Sustainability Officer

About the Role: 

Reporting to the Head of Communications & Sustainability, this role is to maintain sustainability projects, define and implement sustainable development strategies by supporting incubation of projects, new partnerships & programs designed to deliver on ANL & CMA CGM Group Sustainability Pillars (People, Planet & Fair Trade). You will be championing a BETTER WAY in sustainability through, challenge and guidance to the business.


The role and responsibilities will include:


  • Responsible for Country by Country Policy & Regulatory review across Oceania region. This will also include mechanisms outside of Oceania that may impact our business or clients within the region (CBAM)
  • Liaison with third party workgroups and partners to further organisations exposure and influence third party output (BCSD Australia & others where sustainability is within the remit)
  • Develop and update a matrix of key customer sustainability goals and programs in partnership with GA & Strategic Accounts, Oceania Country Managers and Sales Directors
  • Demonstrate awareness of client-side goals when the need arises in order to field customer requests on sustainability related opportunities
  • Regular reporting (at minimum quarterly) on project outcomes & sustainability KPIs for Oceania
  • Identify, communicate and help to fill knowledge gaps in the business (around SDGs, performance and client goals) and provide support cross departmental sustainability projects


To be successful for this role, you will need:


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Experience in CSR, ESG, environment or sustainability including UN SDGs
  • A few years of experience in a similar role would be beneficial
  • Project management experience is a plus
  • Presentation skills in person and familiar using Office 365 tools
  • Ability to read, comprehend and translate government policy, statements and roadmaps
  • Strong communication skills especially in written English
  • Genuine interest in sustainability & environmental goals
