Senior IT Project Manager


Job Purpose

The Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for leading complex, multi-phase IT implementation and recovery programmes within 3PL contract logistics environments.

This role oversees delivery across WMS, TMS, system integrations, automation, and related application domains, ensuring successful deployment across multiple geographies, customers, and operational contexts.

The position requires leadership of cross-functional teams to design, implement, and recover large-scale transformation programmes. It involves managing both standardized and bespoke solutions across various phases, coordinating between internal teams, vendors, and customer stakeholders while applying established project management methodologies and best practices.

Additionally, the role contributes to the development and leadership of distributed delivery teams, enabling consistent and high-quality project execution in a matrix and international environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex IT programmes across internal teams, vendors, business partners, and customers, ensuring clear scope definition and delivery control.
  • Implement and maintain robust project governance frameworks, standards, and delivery methodologies.
  • Ensure full compliance with documentation, approvals, and audit requirements.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to define programme objectives, governance structures, and success metrics.
  • Manage programme budgets, risks, and financial performance.
  • Handle escalations and lead recovery actions in critical delivery situations.
  • Oversee multi-phase programmes involving multiple applications, markets, and stakeholders.
  • Support presales and solution design activities by providing realistic timelines, cost estimates, and delivery assumptions.
  • Build and maintain strong executive relationships with internal and customer stakeholders, including board-level interactions.

Organizational Context

  • Reports to: Regional Head of Contract Logistics Delivery
  • Team management: Typically manages project teams (1–8 people), without direct line management responsibility
  • Works within a matrix, cross-country organization

  • Provide clear and transparent communication at senior level
  • Maintain customer confidence through proactive engagement and issue management

Resource Management

  • Leads and coordinates project teams without direct hierarchical responsibility
  • Accountable for managing significant project budgets and delivery resources

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Project management certification (PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent)

Desirable:

  • Master’s degree
  • ITIL, Scrum Master certifications

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in IT project management
  • Proven delivery of complex IT programmes within 3PL, logistics, or supply chain environments
  • Experience managing large-scale, multi-country transformation projects
  • Strong change management and leadership capabilities
  • Experience working in matrix and international environments

Desirable:

  • Experience with financial ownership and commercial aspects
  • Agile delivery experience
  • Experience with Blue Yonder and/or Manhattan WMS

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong expertise in WMS, TMS, integrations, and warehouse automation
  • Experience with waterfall, agile, and hybrid methodologies
  • Experience managing large programmes with budgets exceeding $1M

Interpersonal Skills

  • Executive-level communication with senior stakeholders and C-suite
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure and complex environments

Additional Information

  • Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) is essential
  • Must comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of company and client information
  • Act professionally and foster strong working relationships
  • Role requires frequent travel across regions and flexibility, including occasional out-of-hours support during critical project phases
