YOUR ROLE
To provide leadership and management of the account, delivering safe, compliant, and efficient warehouse operations by coordinating daily activities, managing people and resources, and ensuring customer service and KPI targets are consistently achieved.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Establish rules and regulations in accordance with legal provisions, the Code of Employee Discipline, and related Company policies, and ensure fair and consistent implementation across all employees without exception.
- Plan, organize, and control all aspects of storage and distribution processes, including receiving, warehousing, and dispatch operations, by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing operational programs, policies, and procedures.
- Review current procedures and establish simple, clear, and documented SOPs and operational procedures that are consistently followed at all levels of operations.
- Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across receiving, storage, and dispatch operations, ensuring performance is measured internally and against customer expectations.
- Implement systems of accountability to ensure all customer requirements, reports, documentation, and communications are fully understood, accurately tracked, and completed on time.
- Support achievement of financial objectives by contributing to annual budgeting, monitoring expenditures, analysing variances, and initiating corrective actions where needed.
- Ensure all warehouse services performed are accurately billed and submitted to clients promptly and within agreed timelines.
- Establish inventory cycle count schedules and ensure strict execution, with reconciliation of physical count results against system and book records within two working days.
- Maintain warehouse infrastructure and physical conditions by planning layout improvements, inspecting equipment, and coordinating repairs and replacements as necessary.
- Coordinate with the Business Development team by providing current logistics information on warehouse capacity, storage availability, rental rates, service volumes, and operational capabilities.
- Conduct periodic performance evaluations of staff, subcontractors, and other service partners, and recommend appropriate actions to improve capability and accountability.
- Lead or support the implementation of operational improvement and compliance programs such as 5S, Kaizen, LEAN, GSM, and HSSE awareness initiatives within the department.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education & Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years previous experience managing a large team.
• Experience of working in a 3PL environment.
• Project management experience.
• Experience leading and delivering LEAN or continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience managing all resources including headcount.
• Experience of working to specific targets and deadlines.
• Experience in understanding and anticipating client and customer demand.
• Awareness of relevant health, safety and environmental codes, policies, and procedures.
• Proven people management skills including daily management and career development.
• Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others in a dynamic business environment.
• Analytical skills and the ability to produce clear and concise reports based on qualitative and quantitative analysis.
• P&L ownership and understanding of key drivers to support operational decisions.
• Presentation skills including delivery of KPI data to management teams and site tours where required.
• Performance management systems including appraisals, reviews, and managing underperformance successfully.
• Understanding of capability and conduct procedures, including disciplinary and grievance processes.
