Business Development Manager

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to lead strategic initiatives and new business opportunities for CMA CGM in Vietnam. This role is pivotal in driving business growth through feasibility studies, managing ongoing projects, overseeing commercial and financial pitches, and leading a small team of process improvement specialists.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Business Development & Strategic Growth
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, including inland joint ventures and potential mergers & acquisitions.
  • Lead decarbonization initiatives such as E-Barge development, GemaLink Solar Farm integration, and charging station infrastructure projects.
  • Build and present business cases, complete with feasibility studies, financial models, and risk assessments, to local and regional leadership.
  1. Strategic Projects & Studies
  • Conduct in-depth strategic studies on terminals, emerging trade corridors, and new commodity flows.
  • Lead the development of barge JV initiatives (e.g., GIL under CCIS), supporting inland waterway connectivity and logistics expansion.
  • Manage high-level exploratory work to identify long-term opportunities aligned with the group’s sustainability and digitalization roadmap.
  1. P&L Ownership & Commercial Structuring
  • Own the Profit & Loss for new business lines, ensuring financial sustainability and commercial viability.
  • Develop detailed costing proposals and support commercial teams in creating competitive, customer-centric offers.
  1. Project Management
  • Oversee end-to-end management of strategic initiatives and transformation projects, ensuring alignment with CMA CGM’s business goals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across sales, operations, finance, legal, and overseas teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Track project performance, manage risks, and implement change controls when necessary.
  1. Digital Innovation & Process Optimization
  • Drive innovation through digital projects such as Smartlog, RivAlliance, ERO/EDO solutions, and Empty Match container optimization.
  • Foster digital transformation across the business to improve efficiency, customer experience, and sustainability.
  1. Performance Management & Team Leadership
  • Lead a small team of process improvement specialists focused on business excellence.
  • Define KPIs for agency performance and drive performance monitoring through the Business Performance Management (BPM) framework.
  • Coach and develop team members to deliver high-impact outcomes and maintain a performance-driven culture.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in business development, project management, or commercial roles in logistics, shipping, or related sectors.
  • Strong understanding of P&L management, financial modeling, and pricing strategy.
  • Proven experience in leading cross-functional projects and preparing strategic business proposals.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
  • Leadership experience in managing small to mid-sized teams, especially in process optimization or project roles.
  • Knowledge of Vietnam's logistics and maritime industry is a strong advantage.
  • Fluent in English and Vietnamese
