Account Manager (Midlands)

This role reports to Liverpool but will be based in the Midlands




To manage the sales activities for a defined customer segment to increase volume and revenue in accordance to commerical strategy


Key Performance Indicators


  • Participate in establishing the Commercial actions plan and ensure the agency sales’ segmentation is correct and up to date in Lisa CRM
  • Identify the commercial market opportunities
  • Plan and conduct commercial visit & calls as per agency sales’ segmentation
  • Promote CMA CGM Group Services and Non-Maritime products (e-commerce, VAS, intermodal, CEVA…)
  • Create MIDs or specific opportunity for market identification exclusively 
  • Carry over expired MID, update existing MID
  • Update commercial data and customer feedback in CRM
  • Agenda of client visits set up and phone calls
  • Responsibility for creating Leads
  • Review pending Leads in CRM generated from other Sales member
  • Relay pricing requests from customers to Sales Coordinator
  • Relay other requests from customers to Customer Care team
  • Develop overall market share / turnover in accordance to commercial strategy
  • Develop new businesses and negotiation with customers
  • Management of customer credit facilities
  • Ensure all customer interactions are recorded in CRM
  • Update Agency Trade Manager with Market rates/ Information


KPI/ Measure/

  • Sales Call – to action a minimum number of proactive sales calls each week
  • Sales Visit- To action a minimum number of sales visits each week
  • To action a minimum number of sales leads per week
  • Market Identification of assinged customers
  • Sell VAS at every opportunity
  • All customer interactions to be updated within CRM

Profile and Required Skills

  • Must have a good telephone manner when speaking to customers
  • Pro-active/Can-do attitude
  • Previous Sales experience
  • 5 years Experience in the Container Shipping Industry
  • Comfortable to meet and build customer relationships
  • Excellent Communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent time management and prioritising skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team

  • Qualified to GCSE level or equivalent (Grade C/equivalent in English and Mathematics)
