Data Protection Officer (M/F)

The Data Protection Officer (DPO) reports to the Group Data Protection Officer (Group DPO) and ultimately the Group Chief Compliance Officer. He is also a member of the Group Personal Data Protection Network (Network). His key role is to support the Group DPO in driving and embedding the CMA CGM group personal data compliance program, advise our business lines and support our project teams. 





  • Support the Group DPO in the deployment of the Group personal data compliance program;
  • Develop appropriate procedures, draft notices and other relevant documentation;
  • Provide subject matter expert assistance regarding the GDPR implementation and other data protection laws throughout the Group, with the support of the Network;
  • With the support of the Network, work closely with the business and the key stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable regulations whilst enabling commercial opportunities;
  • Support, as a point of escalation, the legal team with respect to privacy issues in contract negotiations and client relationships;
  • Stay abreast of relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and industry developments by maintaining links with external professional bodies and networking with other multi-national organizations;
  • Develop and provide training as required to improve employee knowledge of what constitutes data risk and corporate data handling policies consistent with industry best practices;
  • Assist with the implementation of Data Privacy tools;
  • Coordinate with Information Security, IT, Legal, HR, Safety & Security, Commercial, Finance and Internal Audit functions etc. on Data Privacy matters;
  • Assess and advise on the mitigation of data risks in new services, including those risks generated by trans-border data flows and any additional requirements under data local law(s), through the performance of Privacy Impact Assessments and Privacy by Default/ Design;
  • Support the Group DPO in the definition and implementation of an appropriate control plan on identified key risks;
  • Contribute to the definition of appropriate KPIs and coordinate their local tracking and reporting with the Network;
  • Assist with the implementation of review and audits and monitor applicable data related internal and external audit recommendations to closure;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.





  • Master’s Degree in French or other European law;
  • 5 years minimum of experience in Data Privacy;
  • With a strong IT culture;
  • Perfect command of basic data protection concepts and techniques;
  • Extensive knowledge of the European regulation on the protection of personal data;
  • Multi-jurisdictional experience is a plus;
  • Fluent in English, written and oral;
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills:
    • Team player with enthusiasm; good concise communication skills, both written and oral; analytical capability and ability to work in a time-critical environment
    • Agile mindset
    • Excellent writing, communication and presentation abilities; curious, enthusiastic and proven interest in innovation
    • Very execution focused and strong ability to deliver results through proactive co-operation with multiple parties
    • Experience in interacting with senior executives with an ability to influence key stakeholders.
