Senior Analyst - Financial Performance and Prospective Advisory (M/F)

THE ROLE : 


As a cross-functional team within finance, the team works closely with the business departments and operational teams. 
Its role is to:

  1. Set up a sector and economic monitoring of the Group's business sectors;
  2. To provide input for the design of business plans (beyond the budgetary year), particularly through "scenario planning";
  3. Conduct ad hoc projects: performance analysis, diagnostic and development of strategic ambitions for the Group's general management;
  4. Drawing up capital allocation proposals.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES : 


1.    Economic intelligence unit - Strategic and financial monitoring:

  • You produce financial analyses of major trends / transformations (non-exhaustive list: new regulations, technological innovations, macro-economic trends, operational environment (e.g. congestion), competitive environment and set up information governance on this level (i.e. constitution of a "one-stop shop" / weekly dashboard).
  • You anticipate potential disruptions and impact analyses (Regionalisation, Customer Supply Chain).
  • You monitor the Group's strategic and financial positioning [analysis of competitors' and partners' financial communications (e.g. Maersk Capital Markets Day), consequences of M&A or financing operations (e.g. Hapag Lloyd sustainable bonds) etc].
  • You define a mapping of the Group's "surrounding" sectors (key players / new entrants / potential targets / identification of profitability pockets).

 

2. Scenario planning:

  • You will ensure the framing of the business plans through a common multi-year planning methodology.
  • Common macro-economic framework (growth, inflation, international trade, interest rates, raw material prices).
  • Consistency of cross-activity industrial assumptions (air rate, substitution of Air/Ocean/Ground volumes).
  • Alignment of forecasting schedules.

 

3. Strategic performance missions:

  • You will carry out ad hoc analyses of the financial performance of complex strategic initiatives for the Group. For example: financial impact of cross selling, impact of congestion, diagnosis on the commercial management (key accounts cross activities), CSR/IMO progress, Air Cargo partnerships, cash optimisation within the group, SSC performance, contribution of the digital agency etc.
  • You will monitor the Group's structuring projects.
  • You will carry out operational diagnosis to highlight strategic ambitions.

 

4. Capital allocation proposal:
Your financial expertise will contribute to the following activities/missions (non-exhaustive list):

  • Diagnosis of our balance sheet exposure
  • Balance sheet: Value creation analysis (ROCE) based on the Group's asset mix
  • P&L: Portfolio optimisation (profitability/risk model) on the Group's assets: client, vessels x trades, warehouses / region
  • Portfolio optimisation proposal for multi-business and shipping segment (IRR, ROCE)
  • Monitoring of M&A acquisitions
  • Follow-up on the execution of acquisition POs and analytical support to the PMI

 

 

PROFILE AND SKILLS :

 

 

  • You have a Master's degree in Finance and at least 5 years of professional experience, ideally in a similar position, combining economic and financial culture.
  • Knowledge of financial markets and investors is required. Experience in shipping and logistics would be a plus.
  • Your agility, adaptability and interpersonal skills will help you succeed in this role.
  • Your level of English is fluent as you work in an international environment on a daily basis.
  • You will have a strong aptitude for IT tools and databases (factiva, broker/bank research, Reuters etc).
