Value Added Services Analyst

Position Summary:

The VAS Analyst’s main functions are to uncover, develop, review, price, and support value added service opportunities. 

In order to achieve this goal, a detailed familiarity with our VAS offerings, our wider network and an understanding of international trade markets is required.   Data mining, manipulation, analysis and presentation will form a large part of the day to day responsibilities. A VAS Analyst will work with local and global Sales Agents, Line Managers in Marseilles, Support departments (Contracts, Ops etc.), as well as Customer Service groups and Trade colleagues in order to complete day to day tasks. Secondary functions would include supporting the VAS Manager and Insurance Director, as well as constructing new contract proposals/updates when VAS are to be included in the SVC. The VAS Analyst must maintain a working knowledge of all VAS related changes, new product launches as well as global market conditions, as these factors bear heavily on product positioning and strategies.  The Analyst must sustain this knowledge by evaluating market reports and studying data obtained from a variety of sources.

 

­­­­­­­­­­This position will be responsible to:

  • Review regional sales performance; based on historical performance and against budgets. Proactively look to develop and implement strategy with both VAS Product and Regional Specialists to meet/exceed targets.
  • Develop and maintain VAS Revenue / Customer Database. Generate and provide standardized reporting to all stakeholders as required. Develop and provide performance reporting to senior management and sales regions.
  • Serve as VAS product expert (point of contact and information source) for different departments and agencies. Inquiries include but are not limited to general VAS service info, trouble shooting and assisting with supply chain solutions.
  • Create, analyze and maintain commercial reports geared towards identifying areas of opportunity for the sales team to pursue.   
  • Act as focal point for VAS process and work with other stakeholders to develop and document standardized processes.
  • Miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.

 

 Skill Sets / Education & Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years’ Shipping industry experience required.
  • Knowledge of logistics industry with focus on supply chain management.
  • Strong Excel skills with ability to analyze, data validate and perform quality assurance within large data sets.
  • Ability to organize and present data in digestible formats.
  • Ability to develop standard operating procedures, documenting workflow and process steps.
  • Ability to analyze existing operating procedure and streamline/simplify where possible.
  • Commercial knowledge of global Trade markets and current events
  • Interpersonal skills (effective in written and oral communication).
  • Strong Work Ethic. Initiative
  • Familiar with Microsoft office products.
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Business Intelligence platforms such as SAP BI / Qliksense / IBM Cognos preferred.
  • Ability to multitask, make independent decisions, think quickly and work under pressure.
  • Strong analytical / problem solving skills.
  • Highly organized
  • Must be availabel to work 8am-5pm, Monday thru Friday

 

Skill Sets / Education & Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Geography, sales / negotiation experience preferred
  • Previous NVOCC experience would be helpful, as it would lend to a working knowledge of cross selling of multiple products as well as a comprehensive understanding of supply chain solutions.
