Sr. Mgr., Domestic Intermodal Sales

The Sr. Manager of Domestic Intermodal Sales is responsible for working with the Domestic Intermodal Freight Group:  Equipment-Pricing-Operations, as well as the current Director Domestic Intermodal Sales to ensure the growth of, and savings supplied by. the reload of CMA containers, with domestic Intermodal freight back to the Ports for empty evacuation.


Duities  & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and grow domestic IMC customers both ERI and DRM.
  • Manage CMA communication with the Domestic IMC and Logistics Customers.
  • Work with the Domestic freight group to ensure CMA remains competitive in the Domestic marketplace.
  • Collaborate with customers and the Domestic Freight group on pricing and incentives.
  • Manage sales to ensure timely response to all emails, memos, or other requests for information within agreed upon standards which are as follows:
    1. Acknowledge & provide follow up to all urgent emails or voice mail messages within 24 hours.
    2. Acknowledge & provide follow up to all normal emails or non-urgent voice mail messages within 48-72 hours.
    3. Acknowledge sales leads within 2 days with sales follow up occurring within 5 working days.
    4. Business cell phones must be on from 8am – 6pm. 
    5. Email and voice mails announcements must be updated to reflect availability.
  • Communication:
    1. Daily – weekly with customers pursuing business; solving problems.
    2. Weekly Expense Report when applicable to travel and entertainment.
    3. Assist with daily-weekly customer updates on box availability.
    4. Other reports as required
    5. Daily weekly with Domestic Ops.
    6. Join CMA company calls as requested and required.


Skill Sets / Education & Experience Preferred:

  • Excellent listening and problem-solving skills combined with strong ability to negotiate.          
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work at all levels of an organization – both internal and external customers
  • Must exhibit excellent management skills and be a recognized resource within the team and the organization.
  • Must demonstrate strong business acumen.
  • Strong proficiency in basic computer skills and applications to include Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of the Intermodal Industry, both rail and dray.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 6 years of industry experience, with knowledge of Domestic Intermodal Sales and/or Operations.
  • Ocean background a plus.
