Chartering Operations Specialist

Summary
In this role, you will be reporting to the Chartering Manager. As the Chartering Operations Specialist, you will be collaborating and coordinating with various stakeholders on post fixture operations functions for the chartered ship fleet and preparation of documents for claims submission. You will also be working closely with operation desk and Legal team of the group to handle contentious and litigations matters related to Charter Party agreement.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Obtain all pre-delivery vessels’ information i.e. timecharter description, certificates, plans / manuals, questionnaires and collaborate with internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with shipowners and/or shipbrokers to retrieve owners bank details and coordinate with Accounting team in vendor setup for ship’s hire payments
  • Organise surveys for Onhire and Offhire when vessels are chartered in or leaving the fleet as well as for special purposes (investigative)
  • Proactive communication with various stakeholders i,e, shipowners, shipbrokers, Head Office (HO) and CNC teams
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on stevedore damages caused by the Terminal stevedores
  • Collaborate with HAZMAT and/or global teams along with shipowners and/or shipbrokers on loading of dangerous cargoes
  • Monitor vessels stoppages and collaborate with CNC and/or Accounting teams on off-hire claims submission to shipowners and/or shipbrokers
  • Collaborate with CNC team near to vessel’s charter expiry on extension or redelivery process
  • Collaborate with Bunker and Accounting teams on supply quantities and withholding hire payments for provision of redelivery bunkers and ship owners’ expenses
  • Work with Commercial Operations Manager and HO Chartering Manager while handling documentation of sublets between group entities via internal IT systems
  • Coordinate with Accounting team on all financial matters i.e. hire payments, off-hire claims, accounts finalisation of the chartered ships fleet

 

To excel in this role, you should be someone who enjoys challenges with great problem-solving mind and has an eye for details.
 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in business, maritime / logistic or supply chain related studies
  • At least 5 years of experience in chartering and commercial operations
  • Knowledge of postfixture chartering operations and understanding of Charter Party agreement is a must
  • Knowledge of chartering, financial control or accounting is advantageous
  • Proficient in MS Office application
