QSSE Cargo Expert

Introduction:

This role reports to the Head of QSSE, APAC Team in Singapore and you will be working closely with and under the directives Director of the Cargo Division based in Head Office (Marseille, France) for the implementation and application of the HSE transport policy shipping of goods in the Group for the Asia Pacific area. You will be the Subject Matter Expert for APAC, with strong knowledge on Cargoes, particularly on dangerous goods.


Responsibilities:

  • Implement the policy for the acceptance of goods and in particular dangerous goods within the Group's entities
  • Ensure that this policy complies and / or is compatible with international, national, local, ship flag regulations and the terms of charter parties,
  • Participate in the improvement of QSSE procedures for the transport of goods,
  • Participate in the risk assessment and the implementation of all relevant measures to prevent accidents and incidents in the transport of goods,
  • Providing trainings on cargo expertise in the dangerous goods for agencies and offices in the APAC region,
  • Auditing agencies and offices in APAC region on their level of competency and processes relating to dangerous goods.
  • Participate in the safety certification program for APAC customers to ease the booking,
  • Advise the Group's stakeholders (agency, DCO, etc.) on the safety and security risks of the transport of goods (OOG, Flexitanks, Reefer, Dangereux, etc.)
  • Provide expertise in handling container incidents, particularly dangerous goods, in relation to the departments concerned and implement corrective measures within the Group entities in the APAC area

 

Minimum requirement and qualification:

  • Knowledge on cargo operations, familiar with the 9 classifications of dangerous goods.
  • Ideally a former seafarer (up to rank of Chief Officer) / experience in cargo operations
  • Advanced skill to navigate and understand complicated international regulations and restrictions on dangerous goods

 

To be successful in this role, you should be highly results-oriented, with deep curiosity and innovation in your search for solutions. You can demonstrate a strong autonomy in the management of your daily missions. You must be highly skilled in communications, with ability to develop relationships with all stakeholders (internal and external clients), imparting the awareness and knowledge on handling dangerous goods, in line with the group’s QSSE policy.
