General Manager and Short Sea Director Containerships - Portugal

                                              

 

 Your Role

 

We are looking for a strong Short Sea Director Containerships who also has the role of General Manager Portugal for the two brands CMA CGM & Containerships. The scope of Containerships and CMA CGM organizations in Portugal consists of 73 employees who are in our Lisbon and Leixoes offices.

 

 

Your responsibilities as General Manager include:

  • You will actively promote and drive integration of both brands, Containerships and CMA CGM and seek synergies.

 

  • You will be key in Employee Engagement improvement by listening to and acting with the teams.

 

 

Your responsibilities as Short Sea Director include:

 

  • As a Short Sea Director, you will execute agreed Short Sea Strategy according to guidelines of the Containerships Head Offices of Short Sea Business.

 

  • Lead the Short Sea front office agency in Portugal according to agreed strategy and Containerships HO Short Sea guidelines.

 

  • Develop a team, competent in short sea business and manage change effectively.

 

  • In coordination with the Cluster General Manager & HR Group policies, effectively manage resource on-boarding and off-boarding for our Short Sea Agency Structure.

 

  • Define the need for resources using the Containerships productivity KPIs.

 

  • Design and develop an end-to-end service portfolio (including last mile operations) engaging and leveraging local market dynamics, driven to profitability.

 

  • Support the Short Sea Business Sales network for market development, business opportunities and land services development, including use of any suitable inland supplier for short sea business and capacity requirements (within CMA CGM Group procurement compliance policies).

 

  • Meet Key Performance Indicators (Sales TEUs, P&L, E2E Contribution, Service Levels, etc.) set by Containerships HO and hold full responsibility for achieving volume, allocation utilization, land margins and yield.

 

  • Facilitate and manage any other Intra Europe Short Sea Business requirements or activities to support Short Sea Organization.

 

  • Provide the company with an overview of business development, detecting market opportunities at a national and international level, both in the existing business and in new ones.

 

  • Manage Short Sea Line budgets, expenses, costs, and overall profitability.

 

  • Ensure best practice as well as achieving both budgetary and time targets.

 

  • Responsible to provide and generate value initiatives for the cost saving and cost efficiency projects strategic to the company, i.e., Agility, Simplification.

 

  • Ensure compliance with Containerships governance, policies, and targets.

 

  • Liaise with Finance, HR. IT and equipment departments both locally and within the cluster for coordination and continuous improvement.

 

  • Supervision of Customer Service, Operations and Sales team for Containerships in Portugal.

 

 

You bring aboard:

 

  • Short Sea industry experience of 5-10 years.

 

  • Proven successful leadership experiences of teams for 5-10 years

 

  • Graduate in Business Administration, Logistics or Shipping/Forwarding.

 

  • Languages: Portuguese and English, and preferable French.

 

  • Strategic vision.

 

  • Strong communication skills.

 

  •  Cross-functional experience and hands-on mentality.

 

  • Ability to make teams work together smoothly and efficiently.

 

  • Operation excellence.

 

  • General business development experience and specific region understanding.

 

  • Strong analytical skills and conceptional thinking.

 

  • Able to work and execute business processes by applying best practice methods like PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Action).
