As an Agency Trade Manager, you will be at the heart of commercial execution - driving results, optimising business, and ensuring strategic priorities are delivered in one of the world’s leading shipping organisations.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As part of the Benelux cluster organisation, CMA CGM is looking for an Agency Trade Manager to strengthen Agency Trade execution within the Commercial department. The Trade Manager acts as the senior operational trade expert for the cluster and is responsible for translating the trade strategy into local execution tactics, under the direction of the Head of Agency Trade Management. The role works in close partnership with the Trade Analyst(s) and acts as the primary interface between Sales, Cargo Flow, Line Management, and Cluster Leadership, ensuring that trade priorities, vessel profiles, allocations, and pricing guidance are correctly implemented across the agency.
The key responsibilities of the Agency Trade Manager are divided as such :
- Execute trade priorities and objectives defined by Head of Agency Trade Management and Head Office, and Regional Office Line Management
- Translate strategic trade guidance into clear operational instructions for Sales and internal stakeholders
- Act as first point of coordination for trade related execution topics within the agency
- Validate and challenge vessel profiles and forecasts
- Coordinate short term capacity, cargo mix, and allocation adjustments with Cargo Flow and Sales
- Monitor vessel utilisation performance and initiate corrective actions where needed
- Escalate capacity or routing issues to Leadership, and Line Management
- Coordinate with Lines on pricing execution issues and tooling feedback
- Review quotation activity and support competitiveness actions
- Coordinate local tender execution with Head & Regional Offices, and Account Management
- Review weekly trade performance, forecast accuracy, and utilisation results
- Provide structured trade updates and escalation points to various stakeholders
- Proactively flag performance risks and propose execution level solutions
- Act as the day to day lead and coach for Agency Trade Analyst(s)
- Ensure strong Analyst-Manager workflow (prioritisation, validation, follow up)
- Coordinate closely with Sales leadership to support deal execution and campaign follow through
- Drive adoption of trade related tools, reporting standards, and execution processes
SKILLS & COMPETENCES
- Clear and effective communication skills, enabling alignment and coordination across sales, operations, and central stakeholders
- Ability to translate strategic guidelines into clear operational direction and follow‑up actions
- Sound commercial judgement in areas of business evaluation, capacity utilisation, and cargo mix optimisation
- Strong coordination skills across sales, operations, and central stakeholders
- Confident decision‑maker, comfortable managing performance, priorities, and escalation topics
