Key Account Manager

Position Summary
Primary sales contact responsible for meeting or exceeding budgeted volumes and contribution for shipper/importer refrigerated cargo in the U.S. Southeast, covering established trade lanes.
Functions & Duties

Develop and maintain customer- and trade-lane-specific business plans to achieve or exceed weekly production quotas.

Pre-plan and manage sales territories, ensuring a set number of calls per week are made, excluding required management meetings, holidays, and vacations.

Utilize travel and customer entertainment budgets to strengthen customer relationships and support business plan goals.

Manage qualification of new business opportunities.

Ensure follow-up (push & pull) occurs after each customer sales call, detailing results of sales coverage; at a minimum, each call should generate at least one follow-up email or correspondence.

Conduct a set number of cold calls per quarter to grow the active customer base within the sales territory.

Prepare and complete required weekly management reports.

Hold weekly sales meetings with the Regional Sales Manager.

Communicate meeting results to upper management, covering weekly Budgets vs. Actual, business plan reviews, competitive developments, and updates on new or lost business.

Conduct weekly trade-lane discussions to review trade-specific opportunities and target account programs.

Qualifications
Education

Required: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree
Work Experience

General Experience: 5–10 years

Industry Experience: 5–10 years, including a minimum of 6 years in the industry, preferably with at least 4 years in carrier outside sales experience
