About the Role: 

 

Reporting to: Chief Commercial Officer (NZ)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Work Location: Auckland, New Zealand

 

The National Trade Manager leads the New Zealand Trade team, managing capacity, vessel utilisation, profitability and trade performance while identifying opportunities for sustainable market growth.

 

The role and responsibilities will include:

 

  • Lead and coach the Trade team to optimise capacity, vessel utilisation, cargo mix and profitability.
  • Manage allocations, forecasting, vessel profiles and trade execution in collaboration with Regional and Head Offices.
  • Monitor market trends and identify opportunities to drive sustainable business growth.
  • Proactively manage trade constraints, routing issues and performance through timely escalation and solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, industry associations and external partners.

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

 

  • Strong experience in shipping, trade management or commercial operations.
  • Excellent understanding of capacity planning, vessel utilisation, allocations and market dynamics.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify growth and profitability opportunities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, forecasting, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Applicants must have full working rights in New Zealand.
