E-RTG Maintenance Manager - Guadeloupe

CONTEXT AND ROLE

 

GMG Guadeloupe is doubling their container volume in the coming years. To cope with that, both the Port Authority and the Terminal Operators are upgrading their infrastructure and equipment.

Whereas the Port Authority is investing in extra quay and bigger Ship to Shore cranes, the Terminal Operator is realizing a change of Mode of Operations in 2025. The current Reach Stacker and Terminal Tractor operations will be reduced and replaced by e-RTG (Rubber Tyred Gantry) operations.

Therefore, Teknika is looking for an individual that will reinforce the team and bring the necessary RTG knowledge.

 

 

RESPONSABILITIES

 

Based in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, the main responsabilities are to ensure the availability and reliability of the e-RTG equipment in a cost effective manner and to ensure that maintenance technicians acquire the necessary skills and competencies to effect continuous improvement in the process.

 

General Duties and Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Ensure global and local QHSSE rules are consistently applied and followed
  • Ensures that the e-RTG’s (mechanical, electrical, PLC, … etc.) are operating and available to full capacity to meet the needs of the operations department
  • Maintain the electrical infrastructure (substations) of the terminal
  • Set in place the maintenance plan for the E-RTG fleet and implement it in the CMMS
  • Ensure maintenance plan is complied with
  • Ensure CMMS is properly updated and managed
  • Minimizes  equipment downtime in support of operations by responding quickly to breakdown situations when applicable
  • Creates and educates teams to methodically trouble shoot all the e-RTG equipment
  • Ensures that the respective teams carry out planned (preventive and corrective) maintenance on equipment and contribute to continuous improvements on the machines and processes.
  • Works data-driven based
  • Targets  quality issues with improvement projects focused on removing root causes of defects (RCA)
  • Identifies and resolves recurring problems (E.g. Top 10 faults) using cross-functional teams.
  • Identifies stock of spare parts and collaborates with the warehouse team to ensure availability of the necessary parts
  • Set in place maintenance KPIs for E-RTG fleet and reach requested targetsEnsures the transfer of skills and competencies  to all local team members
  • Provides the senior management with periodic progress reports
  • Assists with the preparation of the annual Engineering operational and Capex budgets
  • Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

 

 

PROFILE AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in (Electric) Engineering with 5 years Engineering experience or 
  • Bachelor's degree in (Electric) Engineering with 10 years Engineering experience
  • A minimum of 2 years maintaining RTG’s with in depth knowledge of such machines
