About the Role:

Work Location: Pago Pago, American Samoa

 

As part of CMA CGM’s ongoing growth in the Pacific Islands, we are seeking dynamic and experienced leaders to drive the success of our agencies in American Samoa.

 

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the full scope of commercial, operational, logistics, and financial activities for the local agency. You’ll ensure alignment with CMA CGM’s values, regional strategy, and customer segmentation approach, while also strengthening the Group’s presence and brand locally.

 

You will also provide key analytical and administrative support to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and lead a small, dedicated team to deliver high performance and customer satisfaction.

 

This is a unique opportunity to take on a senior leadership role in a growing region, contribute to strategic expansion, and represent one of the world’s leading shipping and logistics groups.

 

The role and responsibilities will include:

 

  • Oversee all agency departments (sales, customer service, documentation, logistics) to ensure efficient operations and service quality.
  • Ensure adherence to standard procedures (SOPs) and coordinate with department heads and the quality manager.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders including principals, terminals, customers, and internal teams.
  • Support sales functions through market analysis, CRM data quality checks, sales segmentation, and KPI reporting.
  • Collaborate on staffing and office needs to maintain effective team performance and cost-saving measures.
  • Assist with sales planning, target setting, budgeting, and preparation of various management reports.

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

 

  • Diploma or degree in Logistics, Business, or related field; relevant experience in lieu of qualifications considered.
  • 8–10 years of management experience in the shipping or transport industry.
  • Proven leadership, commercial acumen, and ability to drive results in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and quick to adapt to new systems and platforms.
  • Excellent communicator, team player, and relationship builder with customers and stakeholders.
  • Experience in the shipping or transport industry in American Samoa and/or across the Pacific region is highly desirable.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in American Samoa (must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or able to obtain relevant work and residency permits under American Samoa immigration laws).

  • U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals, or
  • Citizens of countries eligible to obtain entry and work permits under American Samoa immigration laws (e.g. Samoa, New Zealand, Australia), or
  • Able to be sponsored for a work and residency permit by the employer.

 

Please note: Due to American Samoa’s unique immigration laws, distinct from mainland U.S., employment is subject to approval by the American Samoa Department of Legal Affairs – Immigration Office. Sponsorship may be considered for highly qualified candidates with relevant experience, particularly those with prior work experience in American Samoa or the Pacific region.
