Internship - R&D Engineer in AI-Based Maritime Autopilot Development

YOUR ROLE
You join CMA CGM’s Ship R&D team, composed of around fifty experts organized by area of specialization (naval architecture, hydrodynamics, technology watch, etc.).
You are part of the concept ship unit, contributing to the design of future container vessels.
You work closely with naval architecture and hydrodynamics specialists in a collaborative environment located on the 8th floor of the CMA Tower, sea-facing.
You take part in strategic projects aimed at automating the fleet and improving operational performance.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ?
You get familiar with the autopilot systems already installed on CMA CGM’s fleet.
You understand the impact of autopilot control on vessel movements and propulsion.
You analyze interactions between rudder movements and the propulsion chain.
You integrate artificial intelligence models to enhance real-time decision-making.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR ?
You are currently pursuing an engineering degree with a specialization in naval architecture (ENSTA Bretagne, Centrale Nantes, Southampton, EMSHIP+, etc.).
You have programming skills (Python, R); experience in AI, machine learning or predictive modeling is a plus.
You are familiar with SQL queries (a plus).
You have a fluent level of English, used for reading, writing and oral exchanges with international stakeholders.
You enjoy teamwork and demonstrate adaptability, analytical thinking, curiosity, a strong willingness to learn and great attention to detail.
