Sales Management Manager Tanzania

Position Summary:

This position reports to the General Manager, CMA CGM Tanzania Limited, and is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The incumbent will be responsible for all commercial activities within the Tanzania Cluster, as well as coaching and guiding the team on account management and technical selling expertise to achieve targeted performance and grow our market share. The CCO will also create strategies and metrics to ensure the business stays on track with its objectives and exceeds targets.

The scope is Tanzania, Rwanda & Burundi.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an import/export business action plan and implement management tools to follow the sales teams’ performances
  • Manage the commercial network directly and transversally, while respecting business objectives and implementing corrective actions when necessary
  • Promote products and services to customers and prospects
  • Analyze market statistics on a regular basis and report to the General Management and teams based in the Head office/ Regional office.
  • Oversee and maintain good filling factor performance for trade services, and ensure COA and CSA are respected and met
  • Identify and research for potential partnerships to stabilize services, development of trade     services, and improving load volumes
  • Identify and onboard new businesses within the cluster
  • Boost import volume for both FOB and CIF clients
  • Review client profiles and diversify cargo mix for the loadings within the cluster
  • Lead, coach, and guide sales teams and ensure   group/business KPIs/objectives are achieved
  • Promote and sell non-maritime products (Value Added Services, Intermodal and Cross-Sale)
  • Formulate commercial strategies which will see CMA CGM grow market share within the cluster
  • Develop Reefer export business within the cluster, with a focus on avocadoes while maximizing the revenue by pushing for TBL growth
  • Responsible for creating long-term business strategies to improve revenue and cost reduction in the respective scope of coverage.
  • Lead in the preparation of budgets and proposals for infrastructure, technology, equipment, systems and other resources within the area coverage.
  • Develop an understanding of the customers’ needs and make sure that they are met.
  • Follow up on the weekly sales achievements and provide frequent updates to the management.
  • Collaboration with external stakeholders including key public decision makers and government representatives/agencies to safeguard the interests of the cluster.
  • Formulate and implement key projects to reinforce CMA CGM’s presence in the cluster. 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in sales and account management, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record in sales leadership, business development, and client relationship management.
  • Experience in market analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools.
  • Knowledge of the shipping industry is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in an international and fast-paced environment and travel when required
