Special Cargo Operations Professional

 

THE ROLE:

The Special Cargo Operations Professional is responsible for supporting and coordinating specialized cargo operations across UAE ports, with a strong focus on safe and effective on-site execution, Ports & Customs processes, dangerous goods/IMDG cargo, Dubai Port Authorities and other port requirements, claims, and CFS activities.

The position requires strong knowledge of the UAE port environment and processes, together with knowledge of DPA/EHS and claims processes. The role requires close coordination with terminals, port and local authorities, Head Office (HO), Port of Loading (POL), Customer Service teams and other relevant internal and external stakeholders.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:


Maintain a strong working knowledge of Ports and Customs processes and coordinate closely with relevant personnel. Stay informed of changes in procedures and regulations and ensure that operational requirements are addressed accordingly.


Maintain up-to-date knowledge of dangerous goods (DG) requirements across UAE ports. Communicate regulatory changes to Head Office (HO) and Port of Loading (POL), obtain required prior permissions from local authorities for cargo handling, and coordinate with Import and Export Customer Service teams regarding direct deliveries.


Maintain comprehensive knowledge of DPA and UAE port processes. Monitor new regulations, procedures, or system implementations and communicate relevant changes to concerned departments, Head Office, and Port of Loading.


Promptly report incidents and notifications involving damage to containers, vessels, or other relevant property to the Claims Handler. Serve Notice of Claim to the liable party, coordinate with surveyors, and consolidate the total costs associated with claims for recovery.


Coordinate with CFS on container reworking, inspections, and associated documentation for general and perishable cargo. Consolidate relevant costs for recovery and ensure appropriate operational follow-up.
 

QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFILE:

  • Minimum 2–3 years' relevant industry experience in a similar operational capacity.
  • Knowledge of the end-to-end logistics operations process.
  • Previous exposure to UAE port/terminal operations, dangerous goods, special cargo, claims or CFS activities would be relevant to the responsibilities of the position
  • Arabic language capability would be an advantage.

 

ESSENTIAL

  • UAE driving license.
  • Knowledge of, or prior exposure to, IMDG Codes and applicable local regulations.
  • Good working knowledge of the UAE port environment and operational processes.
  • Knowledge/exposure to DPA/EHS and Claims processes.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively with relevant software/IT applications.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple internal and external operational stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, practical problem-solving and decision-making capability.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond effectively to operational issues.
  • Willingness and ability to attend operational sites when required
