An exciting opportunity exists for an individual to join our CMA CGM Shipping Finance team based at our Umhlanga office.

Role

The main purpose of this role is to provide accounting and compliance support to the Finance Manager through the administration of fixed assets, payroll accounting support, statutory compliance activities, audit coordination, maintenance of financial supporting records, and follow-up of accounting matters with GBS and internal stakeholders. The role supports the integrity of the Agency’s financial records and internal control environment while remaining aligned to the CMA CGM Agency Core Model and Finance Target Operating Model.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, including asset additions, disposals, transfers, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate annual and periodic fixed asset verification exercises and maintain fixed asset records.
  • Prepare payroll reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation for review by the Finance Manager.
  • Prepare supporting schedules required for VAT, income tax, withholding tax, payroll tax, and other statutory submissions.
  • Maintain accounting schedules and supporting records required for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate requests from internal auditors, external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities.
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for audit and compliance reviews.
  • Maintain audit files and ensure financial documentation is complete, accurate, and readily accessible.
  • Monitor and follow up outstanding accounting queries, RFIs, and supporting document requests with GBS and internal stakeholders.
  • Follow up on unresolved balance sheet items and ensure supporting information is obtained from the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Track intercompany differences and support the collection of supporting documentation required for resolution.
  • Support completion of Internal Control Questionnaires (ICQ), internal control reviews, and audit action plans.
  • Maintain finance filing systems in line with Group retention and compliance requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of supporting schedules for statutory financial statements and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Assist in gathering information required during budget and forecast processes.
  • Support implementation of Group finance policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Assist with finance-related projects, process improvements, and ad hoc duties assigned by the Finance Manager.
  • Provide general accounting and administrative support to the Finance department.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum: Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping.
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or finance support role.
  • Experience in fixed assets administration, payroll support, audit support, and financial record maintenance.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience working with ERP systems will be advantageous.
  • Experience within a multinational environment will be advantageous.
