Port Operations Coordinator

Position Summary
Coordination and oversight of USEC, US Gulf or West Coast Marine Operations for CMA CGM operated vessels and VSA partner vessels. Responsibility will be for specific designated services.

Functions & Duties
•    Monitor CMA and partner vessel allocations for regional vessel services through the review of export bookings and projected empty liftings to ensure maximum slot utilization and maintain appropriate partner vessel allocations. Issue timely and accurate lift projections, PML / MAC3, stowage requirements to tonnage centers and vessel planners. 
•    Interface with Customer Service and Central Intermodal to track-trace export shipments within the vessel closing process to ensure maximum export lift. Issue late gate authorizations disseminate the related information to terminal operators and stevedores. Produce and issue Load Orders to terminal operators and stevedores. 
•    Collect/assemble Hazardous Declarations reconcile them with the Dangerous Cargo Manifest for export shipments and distribute to terminal operators and stevedores/. Distribute Temperature Controlled Cargo Manifest and Out of Gauge Manifest to terminal operators and stevedores. 
•    Compile and distribute vessel operations related reports (TOR, Arrival Sail Message, Discharge/Load Confirmation Messages) and advise all concerned parties of arrival and departure information in a timely and accurate manner. 
•    Coordinates with National Cargo Bureau inspectors and stevedores required marine surveys for all export flatrack, out of gauge and break bulk export cargoes to ensure that cargo is safe for ocean transport. Coordinates the correction of all cargo deficiencies with Specialized Bookings prior to cargo being released to the vessel for loading.
•    Monitor on terminal equipment levels and keep correspondent operating groups advised of equipment status. Coordinate with terminal operators and M&R contractors to ensure sufficient equipment availability to meet export booking requirements. Interface with motor carriers for special equipment dispatch/release   
•    Resolve terminal/gate receipt/deliver issues for draymen and internal customer support groups. (CQA) 

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 
•    Solid understanding of concepts governing containerized shipping, such as vessel match back/balance, vessel load factor, cargo allocation, equipment control, terminal gate turn times.
•    Solid knowledge of local terminal and stevedore operating procedures and practices. 
•    Proficiency in computer skills to include all Microsoft applications [Excel, Word, Outlook etc]
•    Solid understanding of and proficiency in local terminal operating systems {NAVIS, Express, SPARCS Termview} 
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
•    Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and in team environment.

At CMA CGM, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The expected salary range for this position is $62,000 - $65,000 per year. The actual salary offered will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
