Designated Person Ashore (f/m/d)

Created on January 1st 2008, CMA Ships is a fully-owned subsidiary of CMA CGM with the objective to manage all fleet related operations. CMA Ships is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified and operates under various flags’ Documents of Compliance (DOC). A team of more than 4,700 seafarers of all nationalities including more than 300 cadets are working at sea and ashore. It includes a Marine Human Resources Department to accompany the seafarers, a fleet management department with more than 40 superintendents ashore, a dedicated department supervising the ship-buildings, the development of IT systems and working on energy issues and innovation with engine experts, a dedicated Purchasing department, a specialized team to organize the vessel dry docks as well as a team of experts to run the Fleet Navigation and Support Center to monitor the CMA CGM fleet 24/24. With a modern and innovative fleet to the service of excellence and safety, tomorrow’s vessel devices are designed and tested such as LNG energy, engine tuning or hull shape optimization… acting every day for a more sustainable shipping Industry.

For the CMA Ships Germany entity in Hamburg we are recruiting a Designated Person Ashore (DPA) - Company Security Officer.

Designated by top management, you will hold full responsibility and authority for monitoring health, safety, security, cybersecurity, and pollution prevention across our operations. While managing a team of Marine Safety Officers, you will also need to coordinate safety initiatives with other DPAs as well as other departments within the CMA CGM Group.

In fulfilling your responsibilities you will need to demonstrate and ensure:

• Full compliance of the company and vessels with the Integrated Management System as well as all relevant international rules and regulations (ISM, ISPS, MLC, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015)
• Continuous performance improvement plans are developed and implemented
• All efforts to implement and improve the safety culture are made
• KPIs for your team and vessels are monitored with an aim for continuous improvement
• Following up on both all internal and external audits, analyzing findings and applying root cause analysis to prevent re-occurrence of identified issues
• Excellent communication withing your team, as well as coordination between different teams and departments
• Strong relation with fleet and crewing departments as well as external interested parties such as flag administration and port authorities

You bring aboard:

• Certified Internal Auditor including DPA & CSO qualifications
• Experience with QHSE management systems with a focus on safety culture
• Essential understanding of the maritime environment
• Previous management experience onboard or within the maritime industry
• Solid management, communication and leadership
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills
