Local BCO / Outside Sales Representative

Role Purpose

The Local BCO / Outside Sales Representative is responsible for developing and growing CMA CGM's direct BCO (Beneficial Cargo Owner) customer portfolio through new customer acquisition, business development, relationship management, and commercial excellence. The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, expanding existing customer relationships, and positioning CMA CGM as a trusted logistics partner by delivering value-driven transportation and supply chain solutions.

 

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop, and secure new BCO business opportunities within the assigned territory.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline through prospecting, networking, referrals, market research, and customer visits.
  • Develop long-term relationships with key decision-makers across procurement, logistics, supply chain, and management functions.
  • Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of customers, increasing customer retention, revenue, and share of wallet.
  • Conduct regular customer visits, business reviews, and commercial discussions to identify growth opportunities and strengthen relationships.
  • Understand customers' business objectives and supply chain requirements to propose tailored logistics and transportation solutions.
  • Promote CMA CGM's ocean freight, logistics, and value-added services to support customer needs and create additional business opportunities.
  • Prepare and lead commercial negotiations, balancing customer expectations with profitability and sustainable business growth.
  • Handle customer concerns proactively and coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective issue resolution.
  • Maintain accurate customer information, sales activities, opportunities, and forecasts within CRM systems.
  • Monitor market developments, trade flows, competitor activities, and customer trends to identify new business opportunities and generate market insights.
  • Collaborate closely with Trade, Operations, Customer Service, Finance, and other internal teams to deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Provide regular market intelligence and customer feedback to support commercial strategy and decision-making.

 

Skills & Requirments:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, International Trade, Maritime Transportation, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minumum 3 years of B2B sales experience within shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, or a related industry.
  • Proven track record in new business development, customer acquisition, and business growth.
  • Experience managing and developing customer portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of container shipping, logistics solutions, and commercial processes.
  • Knowledge of trade lanes, routing, transit times, pricing structures, and supply chain dynamics is an asset.
  • Experience using CRM systems and managing sales pipelines.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Proactive, customer-oriented, and results-driven approach.
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken. Regular communication with regional and international stakeholders is required, and part of the interview process will be conducted in English.
