Special Cargo Sales Representative (OOG & Break Bulk & Project Cargo)

About the Role

Special Cargo requires more than selling freight. It requires understanding complex transportation requirements, developing tailored solutions, and working closely with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure successful execution. In this role, you will drive business growth across OOG, Project Cargo, Military Cargo, and Break Bulk segments while managing opportunities from initial enquiry through delivery.

 

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of customers within OOG, Project Cargo, Military Cargo, Break Bulk, and Special Cargo segments while actively identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, freight forwarders, project stakeholders, and target industries to drive sustainable business growth.
  • Assess cargo feasibility before quotation by reviewing dimensions, weight, handling requirements, equipment suitability, routing constraints, and transportation requirements.
  • Prepare commercially sound quotations, tenders, and proposals by considering equipment availability, capacity utilization, repositioning costs, and shipment complexity.
  • Act as the focal point between customers and internal stakeholders, coordinating closely with Trade, Operations, Customer Service and Regional teams to develop and deliver effective transportation solutions.
  • Build and present business cases for special equipment and space allocation requests, securing alignment and approvals from relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage opportunities throughout the shipment lifecycle, ensuring smooth execution from booking confirmation to final delivery.
  • Provide technical and commercial guidance to customers regarding OOG, Project Cargo, Military Cargo, and Break Bulk transportation solutions.
  • Forecast pipeline opportunities and equipment requirements to support business development and capacity planning activities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer developments to identify growth opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, and sales activities within relevant systems.
  • Represent the company at customer meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, commercial guidelines, and operational procedures.

 

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, International Trade, Maritime Transportation, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, or B2B sales.
  • Experience in OOG, Project Cargo, Military Cargo, Break Bulk, Heavy Lift, or other Special Cargo activities is highly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret technical cargo information, including dimensional drawings, weights, handling requirements, and transport limitations.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance feasibility, profitability, and customer expectations.
  • Proven ability to identify business opportunities and build long-term customer relationships.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders and manage complex requirements across different functions and regions.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience working with CRM systems.
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken. Regular communication with regional and international stakeholders is required, and part of the interview process will be conducted in English.
  • Ability to work 4 days per week from our Istanbul office (hybrid working model).
