Sales Support Intern Apprentice Uganda

Position Summary:

The Sales Support Intern will report to the Uganda Sales Manager and provide administrative, analytical, and operational support to the sales team in Uganda. The intern will assist with rate filing follow-up, customer queries, sales reports, booking forecasts, eBusiness support, and coordination of sales-related activities while gaining practical exposure to maritime sales, customer service, commercial operations, and the Uganda market.

Main tasks and Responsibility

  • Assist the North Corridor sales team with day-to-day customer-related queries and follow-ups under supervision.
  • Support the handling and monitoring of digitalized accounts and eBusiness-related customer activities.
  • Assist in preparing basic sales performance reports, customer call reports, and other commercial summaries as required.
  • Support the preparation and follow-up of booking forecasts and customer allocations for shipments linked to Uganda trade corridors, including cargo routed through Mombasa and other relevant gateways.
  • Assist in tracking customer sales-related issues and escalating them to the relevant team members for timely resolution.
  • Provide support in compiling information required for dispute resolution, credit, and collection follow-up.
  • Assist with internal coordination between sales, booking, documentation, finance, and other departments on customer matters.
  • Support the filing and monitoring of rates to help minimize disputes and ensure smooth booking processes.
  • Promote awareness of CMA CGM eBusiness platforms, value-added services, and related products to customers where appropriate.
  • Assist with cargo campaigns, customer follow-ups, and preparation for sales visits.
  • Participate in sales and team meetings, take notes where required, and follow up on assigned action points.
  • Assist in monitoring key performance indicators, rate-related matters, and customer issues for reporting purposes.
  • Provide administrative support to the sales team during periods of high workload or staff absence.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in line with the internship learning objectives.

Skills and Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Commerce, Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of sales, customer service, logistics, shipping, or supply chain operations will be an added advantage.
  • Interest in Uganda trade, logistics, shipping, inland transport corridors, and customer service operations will be an added advantage.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong willingness to learn and ability to take direction from supervisors and team members.
  • Good analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Positive attitude, attention to detail, integrity, and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks responsibly and meet agreed timelines
