About the Role:

 

Reporting to the Managing Director (Oceania), the General Manager is responsible for developing the commercial business, the operational, logistics and financial activities of the agency.

 

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Lead and oversee all CMA CGM Group maritime agency operations in Papua New Guinea across sales, operations, logistics, customer service, and finance.
  • Drive agency performance through budget ownership, KPIs, governance, and alignment with regional and Group strategy.
  • Strengthen commercial outcomes by growing key accounts, market presence, logistics services, and third-party husbandry activities.
  • Champion operational excellence, compliance, safety, and digital transformation in line with Group systems and standards.
  • Lead, develop, and engage teams while acting as the primary liaison with global accounts, partners, and local authorities.                 

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in the shipping industry, with strong exposure to agency, commercial/sales, and stevedoring operations.
  • Solid knowledge of vessel operations and local statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven commercial acumen with strong negotiation skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • Fluent in English, highly computer literate, with excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead relationships across all levels, work autonomously and collaboratively, and perform effectively in a high-pressure, local operating environment.
