Global Fleet Management Senior Manager

THE ROLE
Senior fleet leader responsible for operational performance, compliance and continuous improvement of the fleet located in LE HAVRE, reporting directly to the Fleet Director. Ensures safe, compliant and efficient vessel operations, aligned with company policies and international regulations. Drives performance monitoring, cost control and implementation of corrective actions across fleet activities. Leads and develops the fleet team, coordinates with technical and business stakeholders, and contributes to key decisions (budgets, drydockings, strategy).
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ?
• Comply with IMS and all relevant international rules and regulations;
• Ensure all your duties are in accordance with quality, health, safety, environmental and ethics policies;
• Propose a continuous performance improvement plan which will be reported and reviewed on a periodical basis;
• Keep the Fleet Director appraised of the progress in the implementation of operating plans and strategies including actions towards mitigating the risks that can have a material impact on the company’s fleet;
• Follow up and implement corrective measures in the Fleet, in coordination with respective Fleet Managers;
• Ensure structured Risk Management across the fleet, including identification, assessment and follow-up of key operational risks through risk registers and mitigation plans.
• Define, monitor and report on fleet KPIs, ensuring alignment with company targets (safety, reliability, cost, compliance,innovation) and driving corrective actions when required.
• Perform regular team briefings, meetings and reporting directed towards achieving team awareness, commitment and objectives;
• Encourage fleet team members to improve their knowledge, skills, trainings and identify and schedule fleet staff training requirements;
• Ensure vessels are operated effectively at the highest levels of Company Policies;
• Collaborate with the Technical Director in developing the Fleet Maintenance policy and ensure effective implementation across the fleet;
• Coordinate with:
o The Business Controller and Fleet Managers in providing analysis into Operating Costs vs Budget for the fleet, with corrective actions. Track failure causes closely and propose areas of improvement to minimize occurrence in the Fleet.
o The preparation and participating in the review and approval of the:
Annual Vessel Operating Budgets.
Dry-docking specifications and any other major repair work prior to tendering.
• Liaise with Insurance Department for claims management
• Collate, submit:
o Regular reports detailing the operational status of the Fleet;
o implementation of Accident Prevention Committee updates;
o other assigned activities.
• Approve orders, invoices and payments up to limit of authorization;
• Participate in the Emergency Response Team;
• Be assigned additional tasks and responsibilities as applicable;
• Assist in:
o Planning, execution and verification of surveys;
o Validation of certification and Class documentation of assigned vessels.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR ?
Minimum education and qualifications (STCW for seafarers)
• Master’s degree required
• In depth knowledge of the vessels and vessel’s systems;
• Customer, Safety & Compliance orientation for performant interaction with all stakeholders (Flag, Class, Owner, Line management…);
• Competent with various software programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc...
• Previously served as a Fleet Manager or in a similar leadership position in ship management for at least 10 years is preferred.
• Demonstrated track record in:
o Technical Management,
o Company management;
o People and Project management of ships.
Special knowledge and skills
• Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations (ISM, MARPOL, SOLAS) and compliance expectations.
• Ability to drive fleet performance through KPIs, monitoring and continuous improvement plans.
• Solid understanding of fleet cost control and budgeting processes.
• Proven leadership and stakeholder management across multicultural and cross-functional teams.
Technical job skills
• Expertise in vessel operations, maintenance and drydock planning.
• Ability to analyze technical failures and implement corrective actions across a fleet.
• Practical knowledge of class requirements, surveys and certification management.
• Proficiency in fleet management tools and reporting systems.
