Brief Description

Port Operation officer will principally be focused on supervising vessel operations, coordinating with port authorities and government agencies, as well as providing analysis on vessel and terminal performance.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Vessel Call Preparation
  • Check and share berthing window / prospects and actual schedules with Lines/Stakeholder
  • Order gangs/cranes and communicate call sequence
  • Declare port & vessel clearance
  • Order and coordinate husbandry / stevedoring services
  • Order and monitor supply and other services

  1. Vessel planning
  • Provide special cargo documentation to the vessel
  • Follow, order, and coordinate services (husbandry and stevedoring, including bunkering and departure)
  • Generate reports, manage and monitor terminal services
  • Coordinate vessel sailing
  • Alert Regional Operations, Lines and Berthing Manager in cases of incident
  • Monitor and report procurement of terminal services and husbandry
  • Monitor and report ongoing operations and productivity

  1. Cargo follow-up
  • Coordinate POL loadings with dedicated teams
  • Control IMDG and special cargo. Provide IMDG data to local authorities
  • Produce discharge lists
  • Prioritize idle container loading
  • Produce load lists to terminal
  • Prepare & provide special cargo documentation to husbandry
  • Compare Pre-stow with load lists
  • Coordinate cut instructions with Cargo Readiness and Connection Desk
  • Coordinate shut outs after vessel’s arrival/departure with Cargo Readiness and Connection Desk

  1. Post-Sailing Activity
  • Reconcile cargo (load & discharge)
  • Provide post-departure information (e.g. to authorities)
  • Produce and provide loading / discharging confirmation
  • Monitor performance / Produce Port Call Report
  • Prepare and provide 3rd party feeder report
  • Investigate mismatch between Port Call report and invoices received from cost control
  • Capable of adapting to varying work hours in response to business priorities.

Job Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree , any field.
  • Working experience in shipping, port/terminal is an advantage
  • Familiarity with the rules and regulations at the port and terminal is an advantage
  • Should be dynamic, can work with less guidance and committed to work hard
  • Results oriented, with sense of urgency, flexible and pro-active
  • Experience in a shipping line has an advantage.
