Apprenticeship - Global Legal Counsel

YOUR ROLE

Join the Corporate team of the Legal Department at CMA CGM Group and gain a unique experience, working on a wide range of legal matters across France and more than 160 countries. We are looking for a passionate and ambitious apprentice to actively contribute to our strategic projects.

 

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

 

You will support the Regulatory team across a broad and diverse scope, including decarbonization, biodiversity, safety, and security.

Your main responsibilities will include:

 

  • Identifying applicable legal requirements and standards for the Group’s vessels, including international regulations (International Maritime Organization, International Labour Organization), as well as local regulations, flag state requirements, and classification societies (e.g. Bureau Veritas, DNV).
  • Analyzing applicable regulations and maintaining up-to-date regulatory summaries to effectively support operational teams responsible for implementation.
  • Contributing to the anticipation of new regulations and regulatory developments by supporting the definition of the Group’s positions (coordination, drafting, and consolidation). Preparing and monitoring committees and sub-committees of the International Maritime Organization.
  • Participating in the follow-up of interactions with professional organizations (e.g. Armateurs de France, World Shipping Council).
  • Monitoring and updating procedures, methodologies, and tools related to regulatory compliance.

 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

 

  • You are currently pursuing or have completed a Master’s degree (Master 2 / Bac+5) in Maritime and Transport Law, or have a background in Political Science
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken), any other language is an asset
  • Comfortable with digital tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot)
  • Analytical and synthesis skills, you have strong writing abilities and a sense of organization and teamwork
  • Curiosity, commitment, and initiative are your driving forces!
