Deputy Fleet Director

THE ROLE
You manage CMA CGM containerships fleet and ensure to develop high quality standards.
As Deputy Fleet Director at CMA Ships, you will play a pivotal role at the heart of our global maritime operations, driving fleet performance, safety, and sustainability while contributing directly to CMA CGM Group’s ambition to shape the future of shipping through excellence and innovation.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ?
- Comply with IMS and all relevant international rules and regulations;
- Ensure all your duties in accordance with quality, health, safety, environmental and ethics policies;
- Propose a continuous performance improvement plan which will be reported and reviewed on a periodical basis
- Ensure vessels are operated effectively at the highest levels of Company PoliciesCollaborate with the Technical Director in developing the Fleet Maintenance policy and ensure effective implementation across the fleet;
- Design, run and continuously improve the fleet performance management system (cadence, KPIs, governance, standard routines) across all fleets;
- Lead the continuous performance improvement plan; coordinate initiatives, track benefits and ensure periodic review with Fleet Director;
- Consolidate performance reporting from entities and direct fleets; produce the monthly operational pack and key dashboards for Fleet Director decision-making
- Develop and maintain standard processes, templates and best practices to harmonise execution across fleets; support audit readiness and documentation discipline;
- Keep the Fleet Director advised of problems which arise.
You will coordinate with :

- Business Controller, Entity Managing Directors and Senior Fleet Manager in the annual Vessel Operating Budgets process and prepare consolidated submission for Fleet Director approval;
- Lead monthly operating cost reviews (cost vs budget) across fleets; validate corrective actions, monitor accrual/forecast quality and escalate budget risks early;
- The preparation and review of dry-docking specifications and any other major repair works prior to tendering; ensure company standards
- Collate and submit regular reports detailing the operational status of the Fleet with respect to improvements, APC and other assigned activities. Ensure that these reports are available in the corporate repository and shared.
- Coordinate competency development and training plans for Fleet Managers and the fleet organisation with CMA CGM Academy;
- Coordinate cross-functional projects with Technical, QSSE, Crewing, Procurement and Finance to deliver reliability, safety, service and cost objectives;
- Act as structured escalation point from Senior Fleet Manager and Entity MDs; keep Fleet Director advised of key issues/risks and propose decision options;
- Ensure lessons learned and corrective actions are implemented across fleets;
- Approve orders, invoices and payments up to limit of authorisation.
- Assist in any emergency response as required.
- Be assigned additional tasks and responsibilities as applicable.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR ?
- At least 15 years of experience in ship and technical management.
- Significant background in technical and shipmanagement activities
- Technical environment knowledge
- Perfect knowledge of the vessels and vessels systems
- Technically competent with various software programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Demonstrated track record in Technical Management, People and/or Project management of ships
- English written and spoken
