Global Data Strategy and Engineering Senior Specialist

YOUR ROLE

 

As part of the Assets Transformation Department and reporting to the Head of Data Assets, the Data Governance Supervisor is responsible for structuring and leading data governance within the Assets division.


He/she helps improve transparency, quality, and the flow of data between the Assets departments and the Group’s cross-functional teams. In this role, he/she leads the deployment of governance tools and practices, notably the Arkane data catalog and the Data Marketplace, and supports business teams in adopting the Group’s data standards.


The role has a strong cross-functional dimension, involving regular interactions with business, IT, and Data teams as well as Group functions. The Data Governance Supervisor directly contributes to the reliability and value of data within the Assets division.

 

By structuring data governance, he/she enables:

 

  • greater visibility and understanding of available data,
  • a reduction in inefficiencies related to data quality or alignment issues,
  • smoother data flow between departments and Group functions,
  • better utilization of data in analytical, digital, and AI initiatives.

 

 

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ?


1. Implementing data governance within Assets

  • Help structure and implement data governance across the Assets division.
  • Define and formalize the roles, responsibilities, and management rules associated with key data in collaboration with business departments.
  • Ensure that practices align with standards and frameworks defined at the Group level.
     

2. Arkane Ambassador – Data Catalog

  • Lead the deployment and adoption of the Group data catalog (Arkane) within Assets.
  • Encourage the documentation of datasets, responsibilities, and management rules within the tool.
  • Support business teams in adopting data cataloging and governance practices.
     

3. Structuring the Data Marketplace

  • Contribute to the structuring and maintenance of the Assets Data Marketplace.
  • Map data domains and datasets: data location, ownership, access terms, and uses.
  • Facilitate the discovery and reuse of data within the organization.
     

4. Defining Data Exchanges

  • Structure and clarify data exchanges between the Assets departments and the Group’s cross-functional units (Business Lines, Finance, Procurement, etc.).
  • Improve the traceability, understanding, and reliability of data flows between systems and organizations.

 

5. Improving Data Quality

  • Identify and track recurring data issues encountered by business teams.
  • Coordinate initiatives aimed at resolving data consistency and reliability issues (data repositories, supplier data, operational data, etc.).
  • Contribute to the sustainable improvement of data management practices.

 

6. Data Governance in Projects

  • Ensure that data governance issues are addressed in transformation projects.
  • Define requirements related to documentation, ownership, and data quality across the various project phases.

 

 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

 

  • Master’s degree (engineering school, business school, or university).
  • At least 5 years of experience in a role related to data governance, data management, or data transformation.
  • Experience in complex, multi-system environments.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data ownership concepts.
  • Operational proficiency in SQL.
  • Experience with data cataloging tools (Atlan or similar).
  • Proficiency in data quality and governance concepts.
  • Understanding of data architectures, pipelines, models, and integration logic.
  • Knowledge of BI tools (QlikSense, PowerBI, etc.) and BI modeling is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills.
