Group Legal Counsel Expert

YOUR ROLE
Within the Group Legal Department, the Group Legal Counsel Expert supports the Group, particularly the Media Division, in its relations with public entities related to the development of its activities.
You will ensure these relationships are secured in compliance with best governance practices, protect the Group and its executives from penal risks, and contribute to litigation management with a specific expertise in business criminal law and public criminal law.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
1. Penal Risk Management & Securing Public Partnerships
- Design and lead awareness sessions on penal risks for commercial, editorial, event, and public affairs teams.
- Review, secure, and negotiate partnership agreements between the Group’s media entities and public or quasi-public entities (ministries, local authorities, public institutions, administrative authorities, public operators, or parapublic institutions).
- Legally qualify planned operations and verify the consistency of the chosen contractual framework (patronage, sponsorship, grants, performance agreements, service contracts, public contracts).
- Issue a preliminary penal risk opinion before committing to any sensitive partnership.
2. Litigation Management
- Oversee the follow-up of criminal, civil, administrative, and commercial legal proceedings involving the Group, its subsidiaries, or its executives.
- Monitor the portfolio of pre-litigation and litigation cases, and produce regular reports for the Legal Department and General Management.
- Define litigation strategies based on financial, legal, and reputational stakes.
- Coordinate the Group’s response in case of judicial requisitions, summons, hearings, searches, preliminary investigations, or formal investigations, in close collaboration with external lawyers.
- Contribute to crisis management in the event of media coverage of a sensitive case, in coordination with the Communications Department.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR ?
- Master’s degree in Law (Master 2), ideally specialized in business criminal law, public criminal law, business litigation, or public business law.
- CAPA with significant experience in a criminal law firm or business litigation practice.
- 5 to 10 years of professional experience, acquired in a legal department handling litigation, a law firm specialized in business criminal law, a prosecutorial or regulatory authority, or a company highly exposed to controls.
- Proven expertise in French criminal procedures.
- Experience in the media, audiovisual, or communications sector is a strong plus.
- In-depth knowledge of business criminal law, public criminal law, and criminal procedures.
- Strong understanding of anti-corruption frameworks and related compliance mechanisms.
- Ability to manage complex litigation cases in coordination with external lawyers.
- Solid contract law skills for reviewing sensitive partnership agreements.
- Fluent English (professional level).
