Inland Services Buyer Senior Supervisor

YOUR ROLE
 
Based at the Group's headquarters in Marseille, France, you will lead global procurement activities for Inland Services (Road, Rail, and Barges). Your mission will be to define and deploy procurement strategies, manage a large global spend, drive cost optimization, and foster synergies across the Group. Acting as a key liaison between senior management and regional offices, you will ensure alignment with the Group's strategic goals while optimizing processes and supporting global procurement initiatives.
 

 

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ?
 
1. Strategy and Budget Management
Define and implement the procurement strategy for Inland Services, aligned with the Group's objectives.
Participate in overseeing and manage a budget exceeding $2.5 billion USD.
Drive cost optimization initiatives to achieve OPEX reduction targets.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to foster synergies and streamline operations.

2. Negotiations and Supplier Management
Support and challenge regional offices (ROs) in negotiations to ensure alignment with Group goals.
Act as the primary point of contact between senior management and ROs.
Lead or support strategic supplier negotiations to secure long-term, value-creating partnerships.

3. Process Optimization and Tools
Enhance procurement processes, methods, and tools to improve performance and efficiency.
Ensure the adoption of advanced tendering methodologies to optimize supplier selection, competition, and overall procurement outcomes.
Leverage data analytics and AI tools to improve decision-making and supplier management.
Ensure compliance with sustainability, ethics, and quality standards across suppliers.

4. Reporting and Monitoring
Track procurement performance and ensure alignment between contracts and operations.
Provide structured reporting on activity, performance, and cost reduction initiatives to senior management.

5. Network Leadership and Team Enablement
Lead & animate the network of Inland buyers of your respective scope.
Ensure consistent deployment of Group procurement strategies and policies across all regions.
Drive the sharing of best practices, organize regular performance reviews, and provide coaching to support buyers in achieving their targets.
Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and results orientation within the purchasing community.
 


WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR ?
 

Master’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, International Business, or Engineering.
At least 10 years of procurement experience, ideally in transport or logistics.

Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
Proficient in MS Office (advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills).
Experience with procurement tools (e.g., SRM platforms); knowledge of AI tools is a strong asset.
Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
Analytical mindset with a focus on cost optimization and process improvement.
Familiarity with optimized tendering methodologies to enhance procurement performance.
