About the Role:
Reporting to: Sales Effectiveness Manager
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Work Location: Melbourne
As a Commercial Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the Sales Effectiveness Manager and Commercial Management team through data analysis, reporting and insights that drive sales performance, market growth and commercial efficiency across Oceania.
The role and responsibilities will include:
- Preparing, analysing and distributing regular commercial and sales performance reports (including KPIs, forecast vs actual vs budget and market share).
- Maintaining and enhancing CRM data quality, segmentation and analytics to support sales activities and lead generation.
- Translating data into actionable insights, presentations and recommendations to support commercial decision-making and profitability.
- Conducting market and customer trend analysis, including MID (Market Identification) and supply trends, and preparing supporting documentation.
- Preparing internal business and market updates (e.g. weekly newsletters, management meeting packs and guest visit presentations).
- Providing ad hoc analytical, statistical and reporting support to Commercial Management and the wider Agency as required.
- Developing and improving technology-based reporting and data visualisation to enhance commercial performance monitoring.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Statistics, Economics or a related discipline, with experience in data analysis and reporting.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and the ability to interpret data, identify trends and present insights to different audiences.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and solid proficiency in other Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Word); experience with CRM platforms.
- Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports, presentations and business updates.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with domestic and overseas stakeholders.
- Experience in the shipping, logistics or related industry (or demonstrated ability to quickly understand complex commercial environments).
