About the Role: 

 

Reporting to: Logistics Assistant Manager
Employment Type: Permanent, full-time
Work Location: South Wharf, Melbourne

 

The State Logistics Controller is responsible for managing container availability, equipment flows and depot performance to ensure supply meets forecasted cargo demand. The role also coordinates equipment movements, transport, maintenance and reporting while ensuring accurate system updates, timely responses and compliance with operational requirements.

 

The role and responsibilities will include:

 

  • Monitor container availability, depot stock levels and equipment demand to support operational requirements.
  • Coordinate equipment releases, empty repositioning and transport movements to meet booking and vessel requirements.
  • Manage container parks, maintenance activities and equipment status to minimise dwell times and maximise availability.
  • Maintain accurate equipment records, reporting and system updates, including transport orders and container movements.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external service providers to resolve equipment issues and ensure timely, efficient logistics operations.

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

 

  • Experience in logistics, supply chain, container control or a related operational environment.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and respond proactively to operational requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

 

Eligibility Requirements

 

  • Applicants must be an Australian citizens or permanent residents.
  • New Zealand citizens planning to relocate permanently to VIC, Australia, are more than welcome to apply.
