Intermodal Coordinator (truck)

CMA CGM Canada is looking for an intermodal Coordinator to handle truck dispatch in the Montreal team. If you have transportation experience, advanced excel skills and thrive working in a fast paced environment, we want to hear from you!

NOTE: ALL CANDIDATES MUST BE LEGALLY AUTHORISED TO WORK IN CANADA: valid work permit, permanent resident or citizen.

 

POSITION SUMMARY 

Responsible for handling, monitoring, and coordinating shipments for door collection and/or delivery in accordance with established truck distribution percentages.  Work collaboratively with external customers, truck vendors, and CMA CM Teams to ensure Intermodal cargo is moved in an efficient and expedited manner.  Follow standard operating procedures established by the Intermodal Department. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Dispatch

  • Analyze, plan and prioritize inland haulage according to import/export timetables, terminal/rail schedules, special equipment needs, and client-specific delivery conditions 
  • Facilitate the movement of containers that have been miss-routed and/or improperly discharged due to vessel by-passes, errors, or equipment emergencies
  • Confirm and manage in-house truck availability
  • Monitor the dwell and idles, while offering door and prepull programs
  • Create and issue work orders for the door collection and/or delivery in accordance with established truck rates and distribution percentages

Service Delivery Coordination

  • Monitor shipments by tracking and tracing containers, via multiple interfaces, to ensure door appointments are met and cargo is loaded/delivered timely
  • Engage with customers to address potential delays or issues affecting dispatch, ensuring clear communication and maintaining contact until all delivery requirements are fully met.
  • Handle telephone and written communication within agreed upon Service Level Agreements

Cost Management

  • Notify and invoice/rebill customers for additional transport related expenses including but not limited to:Pre-pulls, Revenue generating trucker yard  and container yard storage, Multi stops, Drop and picks
  • Research and reconcile truck and customer invoice discrepancies
  • Identify opportunities through micro analysis of customer locations for cost savings which includes match backs/one ways

Vendor Management

  • Monitor and report trucker performance to Management
  • Develop and maintain rapport with vendors

Other responsibilities as required 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field an asset

 

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years maritime industry experience

 

  • Other:
    • Advanced excel skills, including macros
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize time sensitive issues
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities,
    • customer-focused mindset.
    • Proactive, well organized and detail oriented
    • Excellent oral and written communication, (French and english)
    • Outstanding problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the team.
