JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title : Assistant Manager
Department : Cargo flow and Operations
Sub Department : Cargo flow
Reporting : Senior Manager
Role Summary:
❖
The position will report to the Manager – Manage the service independently, close co-ordination & follow up with HO Line, local Trade / commercial team & Operations.
Core Responsibilities:
Line Co- ordination
•
Manage capacity for main line services.
•
Track daily booking forecasts based on cargo readiness reports and trade forecasts.
•
Act as escalation points between port operations, the commercial team, and HO Cargo Flow.
•
Provide daily guidelines to the commercial team to manage cargo and commercial capacity on vessels, preventing physical shutdowns or rollovers at terminals.
•
Optimize vessel space allocation.
•
Ensure zonal space allocation is maintained at the correct levels, taking corrective action as needed and following HO instructions.
•
Serve as a relationship manager with internal and external clients, including HO, local commercial and operations teams, and cargo readiness teams.
•
Handle Management Information Systems (MIS) and prepare weekly reports
Feeder Co- ordination
•
Co-ordinate with feeder operators to book space for units.
•
Negotiate feeder rates for both laden and empty loadings.
•
Maintain the feeder vendor rates file by region.
•
Support commercial and sales teams in acquiring additional space on third-party feeder vessels.
•
Address and resolve discrepancies in rates or quantities with vendors.
•
Prepare monthly reports and graphical analyses of costs and revenues for feeder ports.
Key Performance Indicators:

Co-ordination across Line, Operations, and Trade (refer to Key Responsibilities).

Utilization and optimization of feeder and mainline services.
❖
Proficiency in data analysis and training.
Qualifications and Skill Sets:
❖
Proficient in MS Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
❖
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with minimum 5 -7 years of experience in the shipping industry, ideally in operations or commercial roles.
❖
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
❖
Proactive and self-motivated.
❖
Excellent analytical abilities.
