JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title                               :           Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager (without team)

Role Summary:

  • Oversee vessel operations and ensure timely scheduling and reporting. Responsibilities include handling imports, IGM, and inward lists, coordinating container bookings, and optimizing vessel turnaround. The role involves using systems for bay planning and booking management, coordinating with port authorities, and ensuring compliance with reporting standards and KPIs.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Monitor vessel husbanding and boarding from registration to PC cancellation.
  • Manage port and marine dues payments, vessel schedules, and timely arrival/departure reports.
  • Oversee imports, IGM, and inward list management; assist with container bookings and vessel planning.
  • Secure berths, ensure adequate resources, and monitor vessel operations for efficient turnaround.
  • Handle preoperational forecasts, problem analysis, and contingency planning.
  • Track cargo operations, productivity, and ensure timely reporting and KPI compliance.
  • Coordinate with port authorities, marine departments, and immigration for feeder vessels.
  • Monitor allocation fulfilment, manage breakbulk handling, and ensure accurate PRS updates.
  • Use MACS3 and LISA LL for bay plan updates, booking management, and resolve related queries.
  • Ensure daily inventory reports are sent and coordinate with commercial teams and central planners for import/export lists.
  • Handle vessel-side operations and follow up on rebate submissions and other service matters.

  • Efficient cargo operations and quick turnaround of feeder vessels.
  • Timely reporting and adherence to vessel schedule deadlines.
  • Strict control of operational costs and optimal booking utilization.
  • Accurate documentation with ports and customs.
  • Effective coordination with logistics, customer service, and sales departments.

Qualifications and Skill Sets:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; a master’s degree is a plus.
  • 5-7 years of experience in cargo flow, operations, or a related field within the shipping industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
