Position Summary
The Vice President of Business Control (FP&A) is a senior finance executive and key member of the North America leadership team, responsible for driving financial strategy, business performance, across multiple entities.
This role provides executive oversight of business control activities, including P&L management, forecasting, and strategic analysis to support decision-making and sustainable growth. The VP partners closely with senior leadership across trade, HR, and corporate functions, ensuring financial transparency, compliance, and alignment with both regional and Group objectives.
The VP will serve as a trusted advisor to executive management, delivering forward-looking insights, and shaping financial strategies that strengthen the company’s market position. This role also requires building and leading a high-performing team that exemplifies collaboration, agility, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as a key strategic partner to the NAM and APL leadership teams, providing financial insights to guide business decisions.
- Lead all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, and performance monitoring for the liner activities under North America Export.
- Lead all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, and performance monitoring for the liner activities under North America APL business.
- Lead all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, and performance monitoring for the non-liner activities under CMA North America (CCA, CCC) and all APL entities (APLL, AML, AMS, OSPREY, ACGL).
P&L Management & Business Control
- Oversee corporate control of G&A across CCA/CCC/ APLL, AML, AMS, OSPREY, ACGL, ensuring tight expense management, variance analysis, and actionable recommendations.
- Lead full P&L (Management Accounting) oversight for APL, including monthly management results, budget, and forecast submissions for both North America and Group reporting.
- Partner with US Export Trade to drive profitability through pricing models, forecasting accuracy, and enhanced visibility of line performance.
- Provide executive-level review of financial trends, identifying risks and opportunities, and recommending corrective actions to senior management.
- Deliver advanced financial modeling to support investment decisions.
Cross-Functional Business Partnering
- Collaborate with HR leadership to provide workforce analytics, salary cost reviews, and productivity KPIs that inform organizational planning.
- Partner across corporate functions and non-liner entities to ensure effective budget control, KPI reporting, and timely corrective measures.
- Act as a bridge between finance and business operations, ensuring financial priorities are embedded in decision-making across departments.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build and lead a high-performing business control team, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and cross-training for business continuity.
- Mentor and develop talent, ensuring career growth opportunities and alignment with the company’s values and Better Ways culture.
- Drive efficiency and synergies across the finance function, including the rollout of tools and best practices across CMA North America and APL.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
- 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership or VP role.
- Proven track record managing complex P&Ls and leading financial planning and analysis in a global organization.
- Strong experience in business partnering with commercial, operational, and HR leaders.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to engage at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical acumen and ability to translate financial insights into business strategy.
- Shipping, logistics, or global supply chain industry experience preferred, but not required.
