Tax Executive

- THE ROLE
This role is to support the Group’s national and international activities with a view to limiting tax costs and risks, by defining and implementing tax policies and procedures that ensure compliance with regulations in a tax-efficient manner. This includes supporting business units and group legal entities in their day-to-day activities, tax audits, and special projects, as well as carrying out all regular and specific tax compliance obligations and filings.
- WORK RELATIONSHIP
- Internal: All departments within CMA CGM Cambodia office; Finance department in CMA CMG Vietnam office, SSC in India, and carrier’s accountant.
- External: Customer, vendor, bank, tax audit, external audit, tax consultant.
- RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with local finance team, SSCI, and related departments to ensure tax reporting, filing and accounting compliance in each company code.
- Reconcile tax reporting details to GL transaction for both BS/PL accounts.
- Reconcile Tax reporting, payment and obligations to tax department’s records.
- Prepare tax settlement journal and tax payment journal to SSC posting after reporting is done.
- Assist in provision of related data and supporting documents for tax and statutory audits.
- Keep track of document filling and archiving following to company policy.
Agency Tax
- Handle company tax reporting such as: VAT, WHT, PPT and Coordinate with HR for TOS, TOFB.
- Review Purchase invoices recorded to accounting system and feedback to claimant, AP accountant for correction action if the invoice is not complied to tax.
- Prepare, coordinate and follow up with EY for assist in the computation and declaration. Ensure payment and filing within internal due date for approval and tax department deadline.
- Issue monthly cost+ remuneration sales invoices (corporate).
- Prepare yearly patent tax and process payment.
- Coordinate yearly with EY and VN GL team for TOI returns.
Monthly Carriers’ Tax
- Support day-to-day activities related to tax compliance, update to invoicing team on tax admin requirements, change in tax regulation.
- Review tax rate applies for carrier revenue (Freight, surcharge, local charge) for monthly new revenue charge code.
- Monitor invoice series and manual invoices recorded during month.
- Reconcile invoices issued to customers and interfaced to accounting system, identify mismatch and follow up correction.
- Prepare monthly carrier tax report and payment (VAT + PPT), to complete by internal due date and tax deadline (recently is by 20th of following month).
- Regularly liaison with tax authority and update tax regulation to distribute the information to team and management.
- Support in preparation required document to tax audit, external and internal audit.
- Assist in coordinating with local consultants and regulators when required.
- Promptly report to direct manager and cluster CFO for tax issues or tax requirements.
Ad – hoc (10%)
- Other tasks assigned by management.
- Participating in financial projects when required.
- QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFILE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as tax expert or similar positions.
- Fluent in both Khmer and English.
- Good knowledge in Cambodian taxation laws, regulations and proof experience of dealing with tax department, tax agency and local authorities.
- Good problem-solving skills, result-oriented with deadlines, can-do attitude mind-set.
- Possess strong communication and strong stakeholder management skills.
