VIE HR Partner Specialist - Dominican Republic

THE ROLE:

 

The Human Resources Specialist for the Hispaniola cluster, based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, reports to the HR Manager, Cluster Hispaniola. In this role, the specialist anticipates workforce needs and identifies, retains, and optimizes talent across the cluster while fostering a positive social climate to support CMA CGM’s development, with active participation throughout the HR cycle, including recruitment, payroll, talent development, performance management, learning and development, and employee relations.

 


WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

 

•    Actively supports the HR Manager in implementing new HR services, processes, and corporate guidelines across all countries in the cluster.
•    Leads recruitment for non-managerial roles for all countries, including posting job ads, screening résumés, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
•    Conducts onboarding for new hires: prepares paperwork and employment contracts, delivers the company onboarding presentation and VR training, manages benefits enrollment, and coordinates with supervisors on the onboarding agenda and IT account setup.
•    Maintains physical and electronic employee records and updates HR databases (e.g., MyHR for entries and exits).
•    Assists with employee relations by responding to inquiries and providing required information.
•    Coordinates internal and external learning and development programs for all countries; delivers internal trainings (e.g., C-Boxes).
•    Records offline trainings in DOCEBO and Training Orchestra.
•    Prepares payroll inputs for each country, new hires, salary updates, benefit deductions and payments, overtime, etc., and submits them to the payroll provider.
•    Ensures CMA CGM’s employer obligations are paid across all cluster countries.
•    Obtains payroll reports and supporting documents from the provider and supplies them to GBS for accounting.
•    Ensures timely, accurate salary payments (payroll confirmation, bank uploads, approval requests).
•    Assists with benefits administration and other HR services.
•    Manages HR correspondence (emails, letters, etc.); prepares employment certificates and various letters upon request.
•    Executes employee offboarding: requests calculation and payment of final settlements, sends exit interviews, deactivates profiles in MyHR, etc.
•    Prepares and updates HR documents, reports, and presentations.
•    Provides support on special HR projects and initiatives.
•    Helps maintain compliance with labor laws and company policies.
•    Organizes events such as team-building activities, employee recognition programs, and other HR functions.
•    Drafts internal communications for the cluster.
•    Supports the HR Manager with CSR-related activities for the cluster.

 


WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

 

•    In accordance with the provisions of Article L122-1 of the French National Service Code, only candidates aged between 18 and 28 who are European nationals will be eligible for this VIE program.
•    Graduate degree preferred in Human Resources, Business Administration (MBA), Management, or a related field.
•    Language skills: intermediate Spanish, advanced English; French preferred.
•    Minimum 2 years’ experience in Human Resources.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word); intermediate Excel.
•    Familiarity with local labor legislation in the Hispaniola cluster countries preferred.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
•    Excellent customer service skills and stakeholder orientation.
•    Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential information.
•    Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
•    Strong organizational and time-management skills.
