1. Job Description
- Disbursement Account (D/A) Management: Review and process port-related expenses (Pilotage, Tug-age, Wharfage) and Stevedoring costs submitted by sub-agents or vendors.
- Expense Control: Audit employee reimbursements and corporate card expenses in compliance with company policy and local tax laws.
- Month-end Closing: Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
- Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation of VAT filing data and ensure withholding tax is correctly applied to foreign vendor payments.
- Intercompany Reconciliation: Reconcile balances with the Head Office and other overseas branches (Inter-office billing).
- Specific Language & Technical Skills:
- English: Must be able to explain Korean tax/accounting specifics (e.g., why a certain expense is non-deductible) to HQ Finance managers in English.
- Accounting Standards: Familiarity with K-GAAP and IFRS (specifically regarding Lease accounting or FX valuation).
2. Global Competency Requirements (High Priority)
- As this role involves constant interaction with a global network, we require:
- Business English Proficiency: Proficiency in written and verbal English is mandatory. Candidates must be capable of participating in English-language meetings or conference calls with HQ.
- FX Awareness: A strong understanding of Foreign Exchange (FX) gains/losses, as most shipping transactions involve multiple currencies (USD/KRW).
- Cross-Functional Communication: Ability to collaborate with non-finance departments (Operations, Equipment, Commercial) to resolve financial bottlenecks.
- Language & Technical Requirements
- Professional English Proficiency: Capable of explaining local tax/accounting logic to non-Korean speaking stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of IFRS and Korean GAAP.- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) is a strong plus.
3. Language & Global Mindset (Strongly Emphasized)
As a representative of a National Flag Carrier, the Finance team acts as a bridge between local operations, GBS s and regional office.
- Business Communication: Must be comfortable communicating with the GBS and ARO or HQ via email and messenger on a daily basis.
- Reporting: Ability to translate local accounting nuances into standard business English for reporting purposes.
- Global Standard: Understanding of international business etiquette and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
4. Qualifications
- Mandatory: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or Finance.
- Mandatory: 1 to 3 years of relevant experience (Junior candidates with exceptional internship experience may be considered).
- Preferred: Candidates with English certifications (TOEIC, OPIc, etc.) or experience working in an international business setting.
