Role Overview
To strategically manage and optimize the regional equipment fleet, ensuring 100% equipment availability for exports at the lowest possible cost. This role is responsible for leading and developing the equipment fleet team, managing end-to-end container flows, driving rigorous cost control, and implementing policies that enhance the commercial performance and efficiency of the equipment flow.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Equipment Fleet Management
- Ensure equipment availability by analyzing forecasts and coordinating with agencies, depots, and terminals.
- Oversee the entire empty equipment flow, including evacuation planning, backloading, and inventory management.
- Set and implement strategic policies to enhance equipment flow efficiency and commercial benefit.
- Drive forecast accruacy with local agencies
Empty & Full Container Flow Optimization
- Reduce idle times for both empty and full containers through proactive coordination.
- Manage local logistics costs and imbalance optimization.
- Forecast container supply and demand to meet requirements at minimum cost.
Cost Management & Reporting
- Create and develop cost-saving initiatives (Agility Actions).
- Monitor, analyze, and approve inland empty repositioning moves.
- Review all local logistics expenditures and ensure accurate reporting.
- Provide weekly/monthly equipment, cost, and performance reports to HQ and RO management.
- Support adhoc analysis/projects such as digitalization
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Equipment Control team, setting clear objectives and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Organize, prioritize, and schedule work assignments to ensure optimal team productivity.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement targeted training and development plans.
What We’re Looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in equipment management or container logistics within the shipping industry.
- Proven experience in team leadership and people management.
- Expert proficiency in shipping line operating systems and tools.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a relentless focus on cost optimization.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent team leadership and people development capabilities.
- Proactive, strategic thinker with a proven ability to implement policies and enhance procedures.
