Summary:
Reporting to the Corporate Business Control Manager, the main task of the Business Controller is to issue and analyze the management and accounting data of designated entities (lines) to support and challenge business operations decisions, if need be, for better control of cost structure and profitability.
Main Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and deliver monthly voyage results (Management/Flash/Forecast) using standard costs.
- Analyse variances between Management, Flash, and Forecast reports, highlighting key trends and gaps.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of reports to stakeholders.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Develop quarterly projections and annual budget in alignment with business objectives.
- Monitor financial performance against budget/forecast, identifying risks and opportunities.
Data Accuracy & Compliance
- Ensure error-free data input for monthly projections in financial systems.
- Validate compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
- Maintain proper documentation for audit readiness.
Process Improvement
- Identify inefficiencies in financial reporting processes and propose solutions.
- Implement automation or standardization initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Stakeholder Communication & Support
- Present and discuss monthly results with Line Management, addressing queries.
- Support ad-hoc reporting requests from Group Corporate Control and leadership.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Operations, Accounting) for data alignment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma in Business management or other relevant discipline
- Advanced proficiency in Excel focusing on data analysis
- Capable of working independently and within a team environment
- Good written and verbal communicator
- Experience in similar function within maritime or financial industry is preferred
