Role Overview:
In this role, you will manage dry equipment assets, inventory flow, and related operational activities across the Northeast Asia region (Korea, Japan, and the Philippines). You will also plan and optimize equipment deployment to effectively support export demand and operational requirements as well as monitor and control idle equipment levels to minimize operating costs and improve asset utilization.
You will also need to ensure equipment management activities are aligned with approved budget targets and cost objectives.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Equipment Inventory & Flow Management

  • Oversee the management of dry equipment inventory (20/40ST, 40HC, 45HC) across the Asia region in alignment with Head Office (HO) Logistics’ directives.
  • Plan, optimize, and direct equipment flows to support deficit locations, including surplus regions and transshipment hubs.
  • Manage idle container assets across the region (including damaged units and sale/off-hire candidates) to minimize operating costs and improve asset efficiency.
  • Analyze supply and demand dynamics, collaborating with internal teams and Head Office to coordinate effective equipment repositioning across locations.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor from time to time.

 

Empty Load Optimization & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate with Agency teams, Cargo Flow, and Ship Managers to maximize empty container loading, including space requests, load tracking, and implementation of corrective actions for deviations.
  • Partner with Cargo Flow and Sales teams to align equipment availability with forecasted export demand.
  • Liaise with the Procurement team on service level agreements (SLA), including terms related to storage capacity and utilization.
  • Analyze vessel schedules and port pairings to optimize equipment deployment and positioning efficiency. 

 

Reporting, Analysis & Process Improvement

  • Utilize internal systems (e.g., Qlik Sense for stock movement tracking and Excel) to monitor and report equipment inventory levels.
  • Apply good analytical skills and attention to detail in handling complex data sets to support operational decision-making.
  • Support digitalization initiatives by identifying quick wins and implementing process improvement opportunities.
  • Execute additional equipment-related tasks as assigned by supervisors to support operational objectives.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Diploma or Degree holder
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in shipping and equipment operations; candidates with good potential and relevant exposure may be considered with less experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including core functions and data consolidation techniques.
  • Familiarity with Qlik Sense or similar inventory/stock management systems is an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience in equipment positioning (steering) and dry container fleet management.
  • Collaborative team player with good communication skills, ability to engage effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Good analytical mindset with keen attention to detail.
  • Able to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking with good problem-solving capabilities.
  • Adaptable and proactive, with openness to digital transformation and continuous process improvement.
