Senior Legal Counsel APAC

Role Overview
You will manage ship and corporate financing transactions, including vessel acquisitions, disposals, fleet renewal and sale‑leaseback structures, and handle complex documentation and negotiations with banks and financial institutions. In addition, you will draft and negotiate key maritime procurement agreements and provide legal advisory and risk management support on IT, digital, IP, real estate, port infrastructures, commercial matters, and cross‑border business development and M&A projects across APAC, in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative environment. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ship Financing & Transaction Support
  • Manage all legal aspects of ship financing and corporate financing transactions, including loan agreements, security documentation and sale‑leaseback arrangements.
  • Provide legal advice on vessel acquisitions, disposals and fleet renewal projects.
  • Draft, review and negotiate complex financing documents with banks and financial institutions.

 

Maritime Legal

  • Draft, review and negotiate maritime‑related procurement agreements, including contracts for terminal services, depot services, multimodal services, towage services and other maritime services.

 

Legal Advisory & Risk Management

  • Provide legal advice within the organisation and across APAC on matters affecting the Group’s business and operations, including IT, digital, intellectual property, real estate, infrastructures (port terminals), commercial matters and corporate communications.
  • Lead legal advice and support on cross‑border projects such as business development initiatives and M&A in APAC. 

 

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified as a solicitor and/or barrister, preferably admitted in Singapore.
  • Minimum 10 years’ post‑qualification experience in a law firm and/or in‑house setting.
  • Strong commercial background with solid experience in maritime law and finance/corporate transactions.
  • Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating contracts in the areas mentioned above.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic and deadline‑driven environment.
  • Motivated, high‑energy, with a strong work ethic and proven problem‑solving skills.
