Sales Development Senior Specialist Namibia

Role

The purpose of this position is to lead and drive the commercial activities of CMA CGM Shipping Agency in Namibia. The role will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, monitoring market trends and developments, and proposing innovative solutions to support business growth within the regional scope.

The position will also play a key role in developing and maintaining strong relationships with key customers, while actively expanding and strengthening the customer portfolio. The successful candidate will contribute to the agency’s commercial strategy by identifying growth opportunities and translating market insights into actionable business initiatives.



Responsibilities:

  • Process quotation requests accurately and efficiently, ensuring all required information is captured in accordance with Group requirements and standards.
  • Develop and implement a targeted Commercial Action Plan aligned with business objectives and growth priorities.
  • Drive sales activity by achieving agreed targets for customer visits, sales calls, leads and new business opportunities.
  • Consistently achieve agreed sales targets, with performance and progress monitored against established KPIs.
  • Prepare and submit sales call reports and weekly call plans accurately and within the required timelines and systems.
  • Complete monthly commercial reporting by month-end to support accurate agency reports to Regional and or Head Office.
  • Share knowledge and best practices relating to customer retention, account management and key commercial processes.
  • Maintain and strengthen existing customer relationships while actively identifying and acquiring new customers to grow the overall customer portfolio.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date customer portfolio, ensuring relevant customer information and opportunities are properly recorded.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve commercial, operational and sales processes, with a focus on efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Support the development and growth of project and project-related business opportunities.
  • Conduct competitive intelligence and, where required, support or undertake market and marketing studies to identify trends, opportunities and potential risks.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of customers, their businesses, supply chains and evolving commercial needs in order to provide tailored solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and customer proposals.
  • Proactively pursue the recovery of lost business and develop strategies to retain and stabilize at-risk accounts.
  • Participate in customer functions, networking activities and appropriate client entertainment to strengthen business relationships.
  • Monitor and report operational and overseas network service issues that may impact customer satisfaction or commercial performance.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with internal teams, customers, partners and other external stakeholders.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market developments and industry trends, providing relevant insights and recommendations to management.
  • Ensure that SOPs and Service Level Agreements are completed, maintained and regularly updated as required.
  • Ensure all commercial KPIs are consistently achieved or exceeded.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties or responsibilities aligned with the commercial requirements and objectives of the business.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 -7 years’ sales work experience in freight industry/Supply Chain Management across several industry sectors, with solid operational knowledge
  • A sales experience track record of success is required.
  • Tertiary qualification in a related field.
  • Proficient on Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international regulatory compliance laws. 
  • Proficient in business development methodologies with a focus on managing solution driven strategy plans.
  • Good business development acumen.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
