YOUR ROLE

Our operation based in Coventry, are looking for a Customs Manager to oversee the daily operations of the customs gateway function, ensuring compliance with local and international customs regulations. You will lead a team of customs professionals, manage complex import and export procedures and collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to maintain smooth and efficient logistics operations.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

You will ensure the team delivers accurate and timely results. This role includes driving Quality Assurance Procedures and ensuring they are consistently followed. Additionally, you will ensure that the team regularly reviews and updates work procedures as necessary to maintain compliance with defined standards. By identifying inefficiencies and waste in processes, the Customs Gateway Manager actively drives continuous improvements aimed at enhancing productivity and operational performance.

The Customs Gateway Manager is responsible for ensuring that all HMRC and statutory requirements, including AEO or other customs authorisations, are met or exceeded. The role involves supporting business growth and actively participating in the creation of innovative solutions, while also supporting commercial activities and campaigns. Additionally, the manager is accountable for month-end closures and overseeing the people management and development of direct reports and teams.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Proven experience gained in a customs operation with experience of overseeing a team.
• In-depth knowledge of customs regulations and compliance.
• Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Ability to lead a team and foster a collaborative working environment.
