Pay range: $20.00 - $24.00
YOUR ROLE
Responsible for qualifying prospective company driver candidates for DOT compliance prior to activation, including background checks, drug screens, and motor vehicle reports. Performs other administrative functions related to driver qualification and recordkeeping to ensure regulatory compliance. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Qualify prospective driver candidates for DOT compliance prior to activation.
- Perform and review pre-qualifying criminal background checks, drug screen results and motor vehicle reports.
- Verify previous employment.
- Process driver files for activation after screening clearance is completed.
- Issue decline letters to driver applicants.
- Audit driver paperwork before and after activation.
- Issue driver status reports to the field and management.
- Monitor and maintain drivers’ status and update files accordingly.
- Maintain personnel files on operator, subcontractors, and other drivers as required.
- Assist management with bid information.
- Compile reports to ensure DOT compliance.
- Reconcile drug and background check invoices.
- Monitor drug testing program.
- Train field personnel on Safety and Compliance pre-qualification, and driver and unit qualification.
- Train new employees on departmental and company procedures.
- Review, research and resolve discrepancies on weekly reports, incidents, accidents, and records.
- Process incoming accidents and incidents; escalate severe accidents and incidents to management.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum four years’ experience in a similar role in transportation or a supply chain related industry.
- Safety & DOT Compliance Certificate.
- Contractor Relations Certificate.
- Knowledgeable in the administration of DOT regulations for pre-qualifying candidates for employment (including drivers) on criminal background checks, drug screens, and motor vehicle reports.
- Knowledgeable of independent contractor law (IRS, Workers Compensation, 49 CFR 376, etc.).
- Knowledge of federal, state and local transportation and safety laws and regulations.
Characteristics:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Capable of communicating and interacting effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds and ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees and vendors.
- PC literate. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Access, internet, web-based and specific job-related software applications. Must be able to create and run reports using Excel, Access, and other software.
- Recognized ability to lead others in daily work processes and work output.
- Self-starter with high level of motivation.
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills and ability to quickly understand processes.
- Proven organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a confident and professional manner.
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential documents and information.
- Must be able to meet deadlines and complete all projects in a timely manner.
- Strong team player.
- Ability to work independently while following established policy and procedures.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
